I think these planes describe the MINIKITE better.

    HANSA JET

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger_Flugzeugbau_HFB-320_Hansa_Jet

    LEAR FAN

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LearAvia_Lear_Fan

    F-84H

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_XF-84H or Mach 0.8 fan; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51BEbZlps80

    EADS SPACEJET

    http://www.universetoday.com/1871/european-space-jet-unveiled/

And why these you may ask ?

Lear fan 2100 is a pusher, F-84H went 670 mph ( fastest prop ever ), Hansa Jet was stall free ( no outbound spanwise flow ) and Spacejet turned into rocket plane in 12 km altitude ( on the drawing board just like MINIKITE ).

    :eagerness:

    Minikite from paralay

Fighter for the small but proud Finland.
This aircraft sum of two completely different fighter! How to settle two bears in one den?
First – turboprop aircraft type “Super Tucano”, with a maximum speed of 500 – 600 km / h and a long duration flight.
The second – a rocket, with a maximum speed of 2,500 km / h (further accelerate impossible, “thermal barrier”)

Fighter takes off from Rovaniemi. Climbs 7000 – 8000 meters and a cruising speed of 500 – 600 km / h. The maximum flight time of about three hours. On board radar (weighing about 50 – 70 kg) two AIM-9 missiles, 30 mm cannon.
Ground services discovered enemy bomber (Mach 0.9, the height of 10,000 meters)
Minikite pilot accelerated to a speed of 600 – 700 km / h, turn the wing to the maximum sweep. Includes accelerator and begins pursuit of the enemy.
Propellers turn into the wind vane and disconnected from the engine. Speed increases rapidly up to 2500 km / h. Radar captures the target at a distance of 50 km (the goal one minute flight), the pilot let both missiles and turns away.
The speed was slowly reduced to 700 km / h, the clutch is switched from the engine propeller, wing sweep to 0 degrees. Planting.

Well something like that I mean Finland is a tiny country compared to US and Russia ( Brazil, India, China )..if you can fly economically Mach 0.75 speed and dash to Mach 2+ in an istant you could do your duties as a fighter pilot defending your country…from any present or future foe. Finland is also no oil producer…so the cost to keep “huge” high tech AF is tramendous.

We also lack the industry that could build high tech AF from scratch…we have none of these for instance; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Press_Program

    Japan has’em too; https://www.khi.co.jp/english/news/detail/20110301_1.html

The commander of the Russian Air Force P.S.Deynekin, who ordered the new trainer aircraft, before flying on multi-engine bombers. He ordered spurned all single-engine aircraft (MiG-23, MiG-27 and Su-17). He said that the new Russian military aircraft should be multiengine. Therefore, coach S-54 and S-56 fighter did not receive support. “Bomber mafia” triumphed πŸ™‚

Okay Paralay..he looks a bit like one AF colonel in Finland who used to live above our apartment in the AF academy back in 1976. I bet the twin engine reliability is high on his list.

So if the deal is FREMM (1bn), Missiles (1bn) and Rafales (3.2bn) that make around $152M a unit (with training, support…etc) not too bad considering the two-seater is slightly more expensive than the C.

How much is there emphasis on spare engines ? I have heard that spendage of engines in modern day jets is huge. Everytime a bird flies through the engine the engine has to be changed.

That is, your idea is very easy fighter – is correct. Now it needs to be carefully formulated and solved :applause:

The mid wing of the design has to be a sort of flying wing ( obviously ). Regarding to that I found an interesting sheet where an university chose the “ancient” Horten profile over newer fancier foils; http://www.aiaadbf.org/2013_files/reports/2013DBF_Rensselaer_Polytechnic_Institute.pdf

I think my solution to have the AAMs and cannons inside and all other payload outside may be a good solution to balance some things; http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?133895-Does-external-payload-create-lift

Especially the long range external tanks that create lift particularly when empty….and can even dampen the forced landing damages in some cases ( they can be jettisoned when under an attack or in dogfight thus making the craft lighter).

Paralay how come this S-54 never advanced ?

They do. The bigger the item the more lift it can potentially create. But then they also create (a lot of) drag, changes the static margin, affects the lifting capability of the airframe, creates vibration/flutter, etc etc. The net effective is most likely to going to be detrimental aerodynamically. That’s why everyone is crazy going for conformal fuel tanks and internal weapons bays these days.

All right then…I already tought for moment my trustee fighter pilot was just a storyteller. I agree 100%. They gotta do that …simple physics….but having many of them underside certaily has to have negative effect sure…and the hardpoint racks…certainly not much use aerodynamically.

    FREMM are 795 000 € a piece; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FREMM_multipurpose_frigate

    So around 160 000 € a plane.

@TopSpeed: Regarding the “improvised” shelf that come with the front cockpit external stairs :

    It’s slippy and narrow
Add costs on maintenance (man handling of supplementary item etc..)
Field location have to be provided with the adequate part
If not, pilot stepping on the plane induces extra cost with damage on the paint/skin
Pilots (instructor) can easily fall down and be out of the flight schedule for a month with induced impacted costs on the training syllabus

A retractable step for the rear pilot wouldn’t have seemed such a luxury. I know my Swede. I might understand that it’s a cover up after someone messed. But now, shldn’t they take the time to make a correction?

I agree on the slippy in the wintertime…one lost/invalid healthy fighterpilot is too much for a small AF.

    Topspeed-

If anything sometimes it’s nice to watch the conversations unfold in forums. Nobody has the combination to the secure safe here, at least if they do they shouldn’t be talking anything sensitive.

I really cannot talk anything sensitive openly…first of all I know very little sensitive…and furthermore the “finnish” defence site is already infested with russian elements ( and other foreign elements ) so making anything awesome would apparently be same as giving out ideas for foreign powers.

Russian proverb: “There is no prophet in his own country.” This means that at home the inventor will not be rewarded.

I did a small check on Arvid Pallo…and seems that the estonians claim him to be their “son”.
