No, he has not yet flown. The idea of the aircraft – to create a cheap analog jet.
Disadvantages of this aircraft:
1. propellers small diameter – a huge loss of efficiency.
2. propellers closed – large efficiency losses
3. The car engine – twice (at least) heavier aircraft engine. Conclusion: this aircraft can not fly well :apologetic:
Fans should have more blades or area if a duct type. On the other hand I think fans are used to get some sorta efficiency cause the flow is not bleeding from the tips.
You may be right..that doesn’t really look like an efficient ducted fan.
Subaru car engines apparently are ok in aviation use.
Hopefully they are lucky.
Here is a thread about ducted fans.
My design is a bit like this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVMSgwa46S8
Just 20 times more power and 2 x rocket engines ( adding another 30 times more power ).
This prop has enough blades; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T-nRRCpbqc
Q400; https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-cl=84924572&x-yt-ts=1422411861&v=UoDeHIrppM0
It moves 667 km/h; http://www.alaskaair.com/content/travel-info/our-aircraft/q400.aspx
Here is an interesting feature in MINIKITE.
In order to save in drag the missiles are semiburied.
It is possible that the Sidewinder has to be launched at subsonic speed, cause it is not in the centerlike the AMRAAMs.

Paralay…has it flown yet ?

Tweaking…and tweaking !
I don’t consider a pair of 30mm DEFA superior to quad 20mm colts. The French operated F-8’s carrying R.530’s and Magic II’s. They also carried RWR’s. The F-8 Y-racks on the chins could carry AAM’s, a single R.530, or LAU-10 Zuni 4-packs of 5-inch rockets. Crusader II’s (F-8C and newer) eventually gained IRST and others incorporated Bullpups. There was a wide variety of free fall bombs cleared, from 250-pounders to 2K-pounders. And they offered Spey-powered versions to sucker in customers. F-8 was better than Mirage III where it counted.
I once discussed about 15 years ago with a retired US fighter pilot..and I asked what is the best aircraft that he ever flew…and he replied without a hesitation F-8 Crusader. It is easy to agree.
TIO-540 has been used in air racing by John Parker. Looks like it can be made really slim !
I increased the MINIKITE size again.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-22_Raptor
Raptor has max wingloading 487 kg/m2.
Mtow power to weight ratio is 8.37 kN / ton.
Having opposite revolving fans at the rear aren’t a new idea…I just discovered.
ATLAS and SABA ( Hamilton HX1 ) projects.
Looks to me if the projects weren’t fully functional ( no funding ? ).
Just a tad smaller than a Vietnam war era aerial tanker.

Also ARES wasn’t much bigger; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG9LlHcX8lg
In fact ARES was a bit smaller ( spanning a bit more ).

I am happy to notice that BD-10 was much smaller; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bede_BD-10

Hellenic AF last Corsair 2014.
I think she could be called a hero…with full honors. RIP.
I agree 100% with Moggy.
I also bear a concern that the Google car and the Mercedes concept cars have no streering wheel and people dont even look at the road.
Or NAS Miramar, 22 December 1969, 14 dead 31 injured (other reports cite 11 dead & 14 injured):
http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=70034
Here is a VA finding in favor of one of the members of the squadron whose hangar was destroyed, granting disability for PTSD due to the above event:
http://www.va.gov/vetapp98/files3/9829009.txtAs an aside, the mishap pilot above had previously ejected from an F-8J (upgraded F-8E, which is what the Miramar aircraft was): 12 September 1969 F-8J Crusader 150861 VF-194 Lt. Cyrus M. Riddell ejected, recovered
In the Gulf of Tonkin, flying off USS Oriskany CVA-34. No further details. And he had a third ejection, 5 months after his first:
2nd February 1970 F-8J Crusader 150852 VF-194 Lt. Cyrus M. Riddell ejected
2nd February 1970 F-8J Crusader 149154 VF-194 LT Gary D. Crowell ejected
Mid air collision practicing close combat manoeuvres off San Clemente Island. Both picked up by Coast Guard helicopter.
Yes Bager1968 this is in par with the accident in Greece. Just as horrifying.
Is it a bit extraordinary that same fellows has to eject trice ?
Your list misses the most influential aviation accident in the US history ( or two actually ) dates to pre WWII era.
http://www3.gendisasters.com/mainlist/california/Air%20Disasters
This accident ended all passenger transportation in USA that took place with wooden aeroplanes like Fokker Trimotor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWA_Flight_599
This accident ended all lighter than air traffic.
Viggen was never a realistic interceptor candidate IMHO, considering the Russian kit available at the time.
It would have been fascinating, however, if India had procured Draken fighters. Indian Drakens versus Pakistani Starfighters would have been the stories of legends. Besides, Drakens were always way more sexy than Fishbeds.
How come I have a feeling Viggen was the best AC in its time for air superiority…am I wrong ?
In case you missed the original thread at the finnish site here is the very first MINIKITE a FINAB ( fighter-in-a-box ) concept.
200 hp engined and launched from rails in the battle field.
:applause:
More about a FINAB !
Here a brief insight to this developement in three weeks.
Radarless cheap Mach 3 mini fighter M I N I K I T E !
I hope you enjoyed seeing this being developed as I did !
