Apertryx,
Many thanks for the pic. Seems to have rather short and stubby wings. Here’s another one of those what I call mix and match Unlimited/Reno Racers, the American Spirit by Matt Jackson and David Cornell. Again I’m not expecting any concept drawings or pics but really hope to see one. It combines the wings and tail of a T-2 Buckeye with an F-100 nose gear and an all-new center fuselage. Powered by a R-3350 driving a three-bladed prop made up out of Electra blades in a C-130A hub. Construction started in 1993, but the project has been on hold since funds ran out several years later.
I have made the J-10B but for the moment i let you see the Shafaq i have made with a J-10B both are paper aircraft made from notebook paper
A-10,
Great looking Shafaq fighter model! Any idea where the model is available for download? Thanks in advance.
Deino,
This looks like it’s from a Chinese aviation magazine published in the PRC, ‘Aviation World’. I would agree with Multirole that this could be one of those J-9 variants.
… but very nice ones !!! :diablo:

Have You seen the SM-72 TACTICAL TRANSPORT/SM-73 ASW/MMA
Deino 😀
So I wonder if Stavatti is giving any credit for stealing the Channel Custer Wing and plugging it on his fictional SM-72.
From the Tintin Comics come the Carreidas 160. Wikipedia enty on the Carreidas 160 states that there were radio controlled and free flight models which were flown which demonstrated the soundness of the design. As for the marquette/model of the Carreidas 160.

How about some designs (very sci-fi) from the Anime world, starting with something from Sentou Yousei Yukikaze or Supersylph Yukikaze

and from the Gainax classic, ‘Wings of Honneamise : Royal Space Force
Do you think Singapore will really want an untested aircraft after the issues they had with the S-211?
RB
Hi Rick,
What were some of the issues with the S-211?
Finally the complete artice … but sadly I can’t read it !
Can anyone translate the part on the naval Q-5B version please ?????
Cheers, Deino 😉
Hi Deino, has been a while since I last did a translation.
The Q-5B is a dedicated torpedo attack bomber developed by the PLN. It differs from the standard Q-5A by having the nose dropped by 5 degrees and the seat raised to increase pilot visibility. In addition, it was retrofitted with a Type 317 fire control radar with terrain following and rear warning capability (doubtful!). It has 2 hardpoints for the ‘Yu-2’ rocket propelled 1000 kg anti-ship torpedo with the Type 45 aiming sight and KJ-45 autopilot. The Q-5B never entered surface because of changes in PLN’s strategy as well as teething problems which were never successfully solved. However this particular confuguration proved that a greater range could obtained by the elimination of the bomb-bay, standard on the Q-5A.
PS : Please PM me!
Remembering seeing some illustrations of what the Super-7 looked like in the weekly UK magazine ‘Take Off’ sometime in the late 90s. I cannot recall the issue number though but it was a lengthy article.
Thanks for the information, Distiller. Nonetheless, I am still curious how 2 disjointed pieces are kept together, I am suspecting that there is some overpressure system involved.
Saw the video footage and noted that when the vehicle was negotiating the snow, there appears to be slits opening in the forward hull area. I am still confused whether the AC-2 is a hovercraft or a surface-effect vehicle.
Elider, thanks for the posts on the Convair 200 and Lampyridae project. Cancelled projects are always welcome in my books. On the topic of cancelled post-war German projects, here’s the Dornier Rautenflugel. The literature says it’s one of the designs studied for the TKF90 project. Anyone knows anything more about this Dornier design and the TKF90 project?
Arthur,
I believe you are right. My mistake for taking the captions directly from the board where the pics were posted. I believe there were some structual modifications to both the ‘Super 7’ and the ‘Peace Pearl’. Any pics of the concept drawings in your collection?
Agent Smith, on the topic of the Q-6, here’s a CGI of the Q-6 from one of those Chinese language boards. Seems to look more like a Mig-23 whilst your pic (scale model at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Museum) seems to look more like a Sukhoi Su-22 Fitter.Any more pics or scale drawings of this exciting project?
On the topic of the J-8II, the last 2 pictures are the prototype for the proposed ‘Peace Pearl’ modifications which were returned to the manufacturer Shenyang Aircraft by Grumman after the cancellation of the project.
And lastly for Deino, a scale model of the proposed J-9 project.
Of course there’s the option of friction-stir welding. I recall there was an aircraft built with an aluminium/balsa sandwich. Anyone knows anything about this? On the topic of accessibility, how do you do that with composites? I read that some rivets are still on the access panels of the B-2.
Since we are on the topic of the J-8, I think we should touch upon the topic of Grumman’s Project ‘Peace Pearl’ and the ‘Super 7’. Just wondering if the J-8 would be vastly different if the project came to fruition? Any pics or concept drawings of these 2 projects to share from the trade magazines of that period? I just don’t seem to find any.
