the block50+ F16s were not offered, only older versions – take more time and money to bring them upto par.

    not a good option.

Xanadu, its seems P15B was a red herring. so P18 could be the next project. The Hull work on P15A lead ship is going on, though the superstructure is not frozen yet-expect freeze in June04. good
chance of Aster on that one.

Meantime first two P17 ships are getting machinery fitted. sea
    trials in 2H-05.

    this per Rupak@BR.

Excellent, always liked the humpback. and with Meteor it should clean the f15e neatly at BVR ranges too giving it little chance to respond.

The new sheriff has arrived in town.

its not just need to replace all the Mig21s, but 100+ older Mig27M, 50 Mig23, and eventually the Jags. I expect the M2K-H being very durable will be flogged until 2020 with some upg.

IAF also wants to grow in number of squadrons going forward.
dem chinese are expected to have 1000 j10/su27/su30 going forward….

the density of terrorists in EU is very less. if Ark Royal were
moored in karachi it would be slightly different 😎

Russian might get one off the hook 😀 if the guard knows russian, if he gets too confused will just shoot the intruder 😉

for your own safety, please dont try any ‘experiments’ in india though. guards who are on alert against real terrorists are likely to shoot first and question later. IAF has raised a new base defence regiment for beefing up security.

and any white man seen prowling around is automatically a CIA spy and liable to a lot of trouble.

Patriot doesnt have the glossy brochure specs that S400/S300V
has but its seen wide service, been used plenty of times and its weak and strong points are known.

We dont know squat about the S400 I agree, so why would I fork over $1 billion for a few batteries unless
    (a) its demoed to shoot down hi-class IRBMs
    (b) has a couple of non-russian reference accounts to give feedback
    (c) is shown to work on *my* trials range.

It would gain more respect if like Arrow2 they organize trials wherein drones black sparrow is demoed and shot down.

for the radar to track missiles, India already purchased 2 sets
of Green Pine when options in RU were available! again A50 Shmel was rejected after $600K was spent on trials in India and
Phalcon was chosen. Smerch MRL failed its submunitions tests
in India (the unguided stuff worked), T90S bolomo peleng TI sight
went ‘**** up’ per a tanknet wag when exposed to prolonged 50C heat of indian desert trials (Sagem TI was installed later), Krasnopol rounds failed at high-altitude later rectified by Russia Kilo SSK batteriers failed in tropical conditions – india had to make her own and also supplied Iranian kilos.

if you go by brochures all of the above were well tested and trialled in russia, but they failed in some way or another to meet the customer req. indian delegation who went to see S300 trials
were greeted with a slow flying drone aganst whom a missile was fired – to nobodys surprise it scored a direct hit!

as I said, to gain street-cred you gotta have to come out in
the ring and throw some punches.
