US elections draweth near.
someone like aerospacetech, SOC or ELP may know the usual ratio of
spare engines
sigh.
7 new SSN/SSBN within 5 years plus 16 SSK looks very high estimate.
I dont think even soviet union at its height built at such a rate.
it wont land in the hands of India, but the US could ask for a “close” look in Langley 😉
the dry thrust being a bit lower than comparable engines maybe
because of flat rating concept. i.e. it will produce the same thrust regardless of hot or high operation – something that PRC needs to take into account. I am not taking the thrust figure literally just
a comment.
another country to the south is working on a engine with the
same concept 😉
I am prepared to believe this more than Gripen/Rafale deal. Its logical choice, safe sanction-proof supply chain and the host country plans to have J10 in hundreds of units and multiple versions.
The $20 mil price with EU avionics and radar sounds a bit low. someone
here was claiming the RDY2 cost $8 mil all by itself! PRC would have to supply the airframe and engine at a deep discount to make that price. or maybe he meant without some avionics and radar?
how far is PLAN from getting a decent fleet of AIP equipped SSK ?
that would even the odds somewhat.
PLAN ships are very weak in ASW. Few if any have decent sonars
and helicopter coverage is weak.
I think the advanced Blair class submarine HMS Jonesy should rack up quite a few easy kills there 😉
Israel already has a downlink from US early warning sats to alert its Arrow system and will get wind of any missile attack from islamic nations quite early.
But the access to high quality KH12 10cm res imint wont be given or rarely
because Unkil would want NOBODY ELSE to have that capability.
Thats why israel is going its own way with Ofek-x.
good thread GDL. please post more if you have it.
Would be interesting to know the cost of the tactical missiles like SS-21, Iskander and SS-23. A cost above $10 mil makes it very costly for conventional use.
hmmmm…. I hear the dry growl of F-15 Raam engines over the Negev
Unkil will go ape**** though and maybe administer a sharp slap on the wrist
for once…. followed by another big military aid package 😉
If you had read the articles properly Israel seems to have funding problems just to keep
a single spysat in orbit. They dont need to launch enough sats to perfect and improve their launchers and Shavit failed with Ofek4 also.
There is a readymade solution to the problem. Indias PSLV which has a proven record
of lofting multiple sats into MEO orbit and has a 1-ton into GTO coming up next year (metsat). It can loft atleast twice the shavit payload into LEO permitting large and more functional sats without pinching the space and power budgets designers face.
In exchange I am sure India wouldnt mind buying a couple of Ofek6s outright followed by buying of components for our own spysats. the interest in leasing capacity in Ofek5 is already public 😀 israeli components are almost certainly part of our TES (1m res iminit) and maybe upcoming cartosats also (3D terrain mapper for awacs and cruise missile application) and the planned successor to TES. Nobody else will be selling such sensitive components.
india also has a better launching spot and obviously no leakage of tech to the unfriendly elements. looks like US doesnt want Israel to have any independent spysats
or launch vehicles at all (typical Unkil tactic) so getting US funding or help isnt an option.

I thought so. wanted to confirm it. thanks.
