so where’s RK3450 ?
Ereyie I believe due to small size of platform needs ground stations. wedgetail on a B737-x should be able to do most of work
onboard – a necessity for overwater ops and the vast Australian hinterlands.
is south korea in the market for standoff air-to-ground and ground-2-ground missiles ? is anything on offer from EU/usa ?
I figure thats the downsize of a being a US ally – no permission to undertake creative long range pgms.
there are few (if any) F16A remaining in service and not MLU’ed.
I recall reading the P&W engined F16 and F15 have suffered more problems than the GE engined ones.
any truth to it ?
Flex297 thanks for putting the whole list in perspective and paf in its due place 🙂
at the moment nobody but the US has the funds and ability to cook up such a system. in future if funding is provided EU could do it but UK has already split off with ASTOR and the french seem resigned to the low-cost Cougar mounted MTI thing.
tsk tsk.
not really. the future usaf M2CA a/c (prototype “paul revere” is testing subsystems) is likely to be the first E3 + E8 combo sandwich. the Wedgetail would have more modest battle management capabilities…Unkil keeps the
gold-plated toys for his own sandbox, “close” allies get the
silver and bronze kit. the rest get unwanted advice 🙂 lots of unwanted advice and soyabean oil 🙂

The first increment, Spiral One, focuses on developing and fielding a ground surveillance, targeting, C2 and battle management capability similar to Joint STARS. It also calls for the installation of a fiber-optic backbone to accommodate future growth and ease the integration of added capabilities into the aircraft.
Spiral Two will focus on the integration of an AWACs-like air moving target indication capability on to the same or separate 767 MC2A aircraft, greatly enhancing battle management, surveillance, targeting and command and control capability.
The Air Force has received $4.5 billion in funding for Spiral One.
“This will enable us to field one test bed aircraft in 2008 and four operational aircraft by 2012,” Smart said. “These four MC2As will augment the Joint STARS fleet, giving us (an additional 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week orbit) ground moving target indication capability and enhancing our ability to detect cruise missiles.”
end of July.
the “martial race” theory is a big myth started by the British Raj.
in reality anyone will fight savagely given the right motivation and cause.
big body = need more food and water to sustain esp in hot climates. the thin and stamina types are what u need except in hand-to-hand bayonet combat!
it is also true that due to old traditions and presense of many ethnic regiments there is a disproportionate number in indian army from punjab, rajasthan, haryana and MP.
much appreciated Portugal!
mebbe the USAF can donate some 40 newer F-15Es and Lockheed upg’s the airframes to F15K std ? the airframe is the same.
could be done quicker and cheaper.
there is a steel headgear called a PATKA which was designed for
sikhs to keep a small turban on (as reqd by their religion) and
still have helmet protection. It became so popular all the non-sikhs too seem to use it these days.
