I think the Pak-fa and 5th gen fighter may be different projects.
india has no real need for a new fighter until 2030 -until then lca
and mki versions will rule the roost.
india needs a strike a/c the MCA and the PAK-FA looks like a
A2A bird to me. there may be collaboration with russia and others
on the MCA …whatever it is called later.
IAF is gradually moving its center of gravity into larger bases
in the interior. the existing bases close to border are very
crowded for space and close to human habitations and ofcourse
they are like 10 mins from border. Mig21s need these kind
of bases 😡 due to short legs.
I have heard the Mig29A/B is also a real dawg on the cockpit
interface. The pilot has to flip a lot of switches to lock up a target and release a missile on it?
The Mirage2000 didnt it use some FBW tricks to smooth out
the rough delta wing ride at low level and ofcourse the 2000D
has the TFR Antilope5 for all-weather lo-lo-lo work ?
Shtil2 mythical beast, no VLS ==> no no.
Aster is here, working ==> must have toy.
if the wing size be considered the same, its about 1m longer
than the LCA. also its features a more traditional delta than the
LCA whose outer section has a more deeper sweep.
Pakistan could have had this 10 years before the FC-1, had it
gone through. heck, they could have had it before the LCA itself 😉
they may not see the bison but hear RWR
warning of kopyo and see a small flame signifying a inbound aa12 or aa11.
defenders will fly low if attackers fly low. same
for F7’s going after Jags/Mig27s.
how does the PAF ROSE mirages rate vs
the -21 Bisons?
it a 100% probability these two will tangle
in any indo-pak flareup. bisons on point defence will meet Mirage-IIIs on strike.
they are part of INVAR BRASS. you will never know who they are but will be contacted – soon.
ps. watch for black unmarked vans.
sharmaji, Aster30 is the only option there.
its inevitable for a optimal soln. Shtil is fast
but too short ranged. the P15A are probably
the first IN warships of size enuf to take the
full strike-length Sylver modules from the
deck level downward.
I was thinking Kashtan-M is closed loop like
goalkeeper or phalanx …its radar tracks both
the target and outbound cannon shells and
constantly corrects to bring it on target.
the original Kashtan was supposedly not
closed-loop.
Singapore seeks airforce and army training areas in India
http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/holnus/002200404201868.htm
I hope they shift some F-16s from Nellis to Gwalior 😉
only problem is Tajikistan is also very firmly in the anti-terrorist
camp…its the homebase of the northern alliance & panjshir valley Tajiks. the life of a taliban/al-quada would be short and painful in Tajikland.
india maintains a small military airbase in Tajik (farkhor) from back
in the northern alliance days.
so it means USSR did build a steam catapult ? I always
knew with their robust heavy engg and machinery expertise they
could put one together if need be.
no it wont be named vikrant, becoz the real vikrant is being turned into a floating museum in bombay.

NEW DELHI, APRIL 20: Singapore has got the go-ahead but Indonesia will have to wait a while before India lends a helping hand in developing the South-East Asian nation’s air power.
A request from Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU) or Indonesian Air Force for training in Sukhoi 30 multi-role fighter jets has been kept on hold by New Delhi on the grounds that India is still in ‘‘consolidation’’ stage on the jets. The TNI-AU recently requested India for assistance training in Sukhoi for pilots and technicians. For that, it said it was willing to source spares for the jets and outsource maintenance work to India.
Indonesia’s reckoning is that though it currently has two each of Su 27 and Su 30, it plans to grow into a squadron (20 planes) of Sukhois. Before doing that, it wants to send at least a dozen pilots and technicians for training.
But India has bought time by saying that its Sukhoi programme is still in the developing stages and would need more maturity before it can offer a trainer version of it. Essentially, India is wary of showcasing its latest generation Su-30’s in the rapidly changing Asian security scenario.
