P8088
Hi all,
A couple of other pics that you may not of seen yet,,,

P8088/BEIHAN62
Hi Don, ahh no problems on the pictures, from what you have said it sure sounds like a hell of a impact,to smash the motor to pieces like that and to rip the wings off, i guess thats why the farmer still remembered it happening, seeing something like that would be mind blowing and not easily forgotten.
I have seen the corgi model they put out and another one by some other company, or maybe it was just wearing the Lambeth colours,My remote control model was made by a gentleman in England back in the 70’s and was flowin all over at differant shows before it was brought out here by his son. It is pretty much scale with all markings and colour scheme and cockpit gauges etc,it will once again fly this summer after a full resto and updated electrics and undercarriage, i enjoy building large scale warbirds and have a few now including a 85″ Hurricane and a 110″ Corsair F4U, lots of fun both building and flying,
Thanks again for all the info you have provided it has been fantastic reading about P8088.
kind regards Les
NKK
Beihan62 Thank you for that awesome information on P8088.And everyone else that has replied or added to this thread,I have often wondered what went wrong on her last flight. I have followed and trawled through hundreds of pages searching for info on this plane and all the info in the world is right here in this thread..awesome!.I started this thread over two years ago and i never would of thought to just how much info there has been on this Spitfire,it has been Fantastic! I am still restoring the model in the pictures on the first page of this thread and are looking at flying her this coming Summer. It was through this model and to how it ended up down here in New Zealand that sparked a major interest in the full size Aircraft that this model was based on, and to much enjoyment to i might add, I have learnt where she was made and who flew her and the squadrons that she served under and where she is now. Now thats a story book in its self i reckon! And now more info on what happened on that flight, Wow it sounds like she was moving very fast at impact, the ole Merlin screaming to the end.
May i ask Beihan62 do you have any photos of the recovery? id be very interested in seeing any if you have and dont mind.
Jon.R has been fantastic in keeping me up to date with how P8088 is coming along and it is looking just great, kinda sends shivers down ya spine seeing the photos of her after tracking its history and knowing how it ended up,
I think the life of this Spitfire still has plenty of life left in the bits that were found and who knows ,,maybe one day it will grace the skies once again,,I for one will be there watching if she does.:D

one of the best planes thru out the world to learn on would have to be the easystar from Multiplex, it is fantastic to learn on ,it has 3 channels ,rudder, elevator and throttle, it is electric and can be flowin anywhere anytime,,it has even won awards for being the best learning plane ,,its big and easy to see and there are forums that deal with 100’s of mods one can do to it,,i have one and it is one of the best planes i have ,,,good luck and happy flying ,,,:D
cheers chad, ahh ok ,,will have to do a search on google for these kits , but suspect you and daz are correct in your line of thinking, the model is indeed made of ply and balsa with a fiberglass type covering, the cockpit has great detail which includes gauges, joy stick and throttle landing gear levers etc, the seat and behind the seat with what looks like a oxygen bottle and the retracs close back at a angle , at first i thought it may of been scratch built but after reading and doing a bit more research maybe this is a kit ,,either way it is a very nice model of the much loved spity and has the habit of grabbing the hearts of many that look at her,,i have started the resto and have the retracs working again and canopy of to clean inside and give the ole pilot a freshen up ,,lol,,, the info profile is coming along great and will post a pic when ive got it done to any that are interested,,ive decide to keep the orig paint and just clean it well ,it looks like it has done many miles and sorta goes with the age of the plane , and keeps the history alive,,
cheers all for all yr input i enjoy logging in and reading new bits that have been added ,,and will keep ya all posted on the progress,,,cheers and have a great week ,,

😮 well Antoni you have just blowin me outta the water ,,floats in all,,,lol, holy cow ,,,thank you so much for that info ,,the profile board just got a whole lot more interesting to say the least,,,wow,, and even right down to the pilot that served in the aussie air force,im very impressed,,makes for great reading ,two engine failures caused the first 2 crashes,,makes one wonder if she gave a third, i shall be writing this info all up and setting a fold out board up with it all on it ,when i take it to shows, many thanks for everything and well done on getting all that info ,,,cheers mate
cheers , wow thats some good info and pics thank you Daz, i found a site that lists numbers of the spitfires and thru codes one can find out the info ,it has P8088 included and from how i read it yes i think you are right about being crashed,it looks like she was turned over to a training squad and then as i read it ,and i could be wrong here, but seems it dived into the ground and then there is some other letters that i cant find out what they mean but hey that is lots of info and thanks very much,
Also thank you Cranswick and wj244 for yr input and i will be doing a search for that profile 41 and also will be contacting the magazine as well ,,,good idea,,
many thanks all
