Are you in it just for the miles? If so check out the SWISS website. Im sure they are still running the discounted Business Class deal from various U.K airports. A good number of destinations were included when i did a Mileage Run on this fare with them in Feb. Any 4segment run (intra-european) on the Business deal will get you over 4k status miles with BD. If you fancy flying stateside, and want miles i would suggest using U.S AIRWAYS or UNITED as they both offer 100% miles earning for Diamond Club even on there deepest discounted tickets. Very poor service though especially on U.S.

Thanks for posting the report. An enjoyable read for sure. I love flying on the MD-80s. Amazing aircraft. I remember flying out of CPH one evening on an 83 and the climb out was so steep, like nothing i have ever experienced. Quite exciting really.

A very enjoyable report. Loved the sunset pictures, looks cool with the sun lighting up the winglet.

Im starting to follow this BA caper(as a business) with interest now. Personaly i have no real interest in them as an airline, hardly ever fly with them, and have no “national pride” towards them, but its interesting to see how they are reacting to these times as an airline. Media can hype things up no end, for the worse but, it now looks like they are really starting to worry. Im sure they will get some kind of government bail out if they really get in the s**t.

Good report. Would have been nice to see some pictures, but understand its not always possible to get them. I hear good things about Cathay Pacific and look forward to flying them someday. I dont have any info regarding EVA air. No doubt someone here will be able to help you on that front.

No worries lucas. If you need help with multi-segment trips feel free to PM me with any questions. It does become addictive, trying to get routes into airports you have never flown into, aircraft or airlines you have never flown on. Before you know where you are your not just looking at Europe but the whole world, and these “day trips” start to become week long adventures.

I can totaly relate to your love of the “day flying trip”. Living smack bang in the middle of MAN and LBA i have had lots of these kind of trips. I love hunting out the possible routings and finding reasonable fares as much as the flying. Must be some kind of puzzle solving thing i got going on. Obviously its dependent on how well served your local is, but a very early start and a late finnish can see you squeeze in 4 to 5 flights in a day and maybe even 6 if your willing to risk cutting your connection times to scary levels bouncing around Europe all day. I know some people will say “whats the point in going someplace and not even getting out of the airport” but this is where i get my kicks in the Aviation world. Happy future travels man, you never know, you might just get hooked onto this type of flying.

Ryanair are in the news nearly every week now with new plans/ideas to disrupt passengers. It remains to be seen how this will affect loads. If you consider that most of there traffic is business or weekend break travelers then im not sure if it will affect them? Charter/Holiday traffic would be a different story. Has anyone noticed just how popular the “roll aboard” luggage idea has become recently? Everyone appears to be wheeling one around the airport now (myself included). Maybe people just take less stuff with them now? I have always tried to travel light and love being able to make a very quick exit out of the airport and not hang around for any checked luggage.

Ah well. Nothing like a mad dash through an airport. Hope everything runs to time and you get your connection. Have a good flight.

Agreed. 40mins is just pushing it too close to the line. AA (if thats who your flying with) must think its do-able though if they let you book it without it getting flagged up as an illegal connection.

A good evenings viewing. Nice to see Aviation feature for more that half an hour. I too really enjoyed the Suckling Airways feature. Had to laugh at the guy who had unbeknown to him taken 100 flights with them. Looked like he was getting pretty miffed at standing out in the rain to get his photo taken and being told “stand here” “hold this” “try and smile sir”.

No doubt being used to free up another 777 to replace the mighty 747s that are being slowly retired. Shame to see them leave the fleet. Out of interest i notice the article states the 380s will be replacing 300ERs. I thought the ERs were only used on the SQ1 SQ2 routes that stop in HKG en route to/from SFO. The flights that terminate in Honkers are regional configured 200 and 300s.

Some sound advice there from Paul F. If i could just mention something about bulkhead seats though. Yes these seats offer greater legroom, but you can sometimes end up sitting with people traveling with a baby, as the bulkhead seat has a basinette in front of it. As you can imagin this could cause some noise disruption for you if the bambino starts crying alot. Also the bulkhead seats can be slightly narrower as the tray table is usually stowed in the armrest. I hope you have a fantastic trip and just try to enjoy the flights. Personaly i love long hauls. Im one of those crazy folks who flys them just for fun, and broke my distance record early this year by flying just over 20,000 miles in 6days. I was wiped out when i got home, but man i loved it. Enjoy.

Shame to see this one go. I had often looked at having a run down to LCY to experience the steep approach, but never got round to it. Not sure if FlyBe will take over this route? As already stated the train is proving popular now, and although the dash8 is steep approach approved i dont think FlyBe are certified as yet.
