I was looking at the wood one and then i saw the price £210,000! I like 90%, I wonder if you can hang a Merlin on one of those :diablo: Chris

I would prefer 100% and a trusty Merlin up front :diablo: Chris

Sounds good but I want something that will fly! I dont want to spend all the time, effort and money on something that wont fly. Anyway there HAS to be some real working plans of a Spit somewhere on the net. Wouldnt that be easier? Chris

Flying not likely, no working elevators, rudders or ailerons not to mention flaps, no shocks in the U/C, centre of gravity god knows where, probably would leave the ground if you went fast enough wouldn’t like to say how long for though :diablo:
I would not like to say whats its cost over the ten years apart from the hardware thats gone into it, I am pretty unskilled at making things so have had to hire allot of help. Lots of bits have been made specifically and things have been modified as problems appear. Its all trial and error with a thing like this, you just have to dive in and take on one problem at a time.

Ohhhhh i didnt think of all the control surfaces 😮 Yeh Probably cost quite a bit 😀 Daz Where is the full Spit? Anyway I dont have the money and it will probably not be on sale when i want it. The point would be to get the satisfaction from building a Spit not Buying one. Chris

I am not sure about the aerodynamics of a glassfibre Spitfire !!

Thats exactly what I was thinking! There are actual Aluminium kit Spits out there but they are for like £100,000 thats not including an engine!! But i would simply HAVE to fork out the money for a merlin :diablo: Im only 15 so i got a while yet 😀 Chris

Ahhh thanks for that xD I have one final question, from the ‘bog standard sit on the grass one’ how much do you think it would cost to get one flying? Is it even possible? Thanks again Chris

Hi Graham, Can I ask how you came about your replica Spitfire? Was it a ‘DIY’ kit? And how much did it all cost? Its looking real nice! 😀 Chris

    Chris your back:eek:

Got a feeling that your confusing me with someone! My Dad is the one and only firefighter for the Buccaneer! Im the 15 year old that stands about looking good. 😎 I was at the open day carrying the fire extinguisher/ladders and bits.

I do prefer the Ju-88 personaly 😀 It would be great if another one was found, although how would they have kept it under wraps for so long? Shorely someone would have noticed! Chris
