I’d love to own it but there’s not much point as I don’t have a pilot’s licence:(
Never too late to learn!;)
No…right base.;)
Sywell is a definite “go”, we’ve done a number of photosessions there and the management are never less than enthusiastic and co-operative.
As for getting the aeroplanes close to the art-deco…….
As many have said before, and will no doubt say again. A true gentleman and a real-life hero. I hope his legacy and inspiration will live on.
And, based on the information we have of his last hours. No-one could be better described as “a flyer to the last”.
Happy landings.
[QUOTE=Newforest;1101527]The thread comes round like Christmas, every year.:D
So do repeats of the original Italian Job (thankfully!) 😎
It just shows how good Flyboys might have been if they’d stuck with the wealth of material their aerial unit shot and hadn’t gone into cgi overload when they got back to the USA!
[QUOTE=Arm Waver;1099465]Sheesh – sells his Minor and then goes off them (Ok this isn’t strictly one but….) :diablo: 😀

C’nardly say I’ve gone off them…. still running http://www.lutonminor.com !!!!
Nice one Zamfire (and PhantomII)!
I know just what you mean about flying into the airshow. When I first did that in my Luton Minor at Old Warden in 2005, it was the realisation of a personal dream. THe only trouble is that it stays (expensively) addictive!!! 😎
Interesting to see that the Luton Duet has found a role in life…….
…..as a work bench! :diablo:
That’s not damage, that’s patina! 😉
Seriously though, if you live in a rural area, go and try your local saddler or horsey shop. They have all sorts of leather conditioning products a lot cheaper than classic car stuff!
Aaah the joys of flying, Moggie.
Sez he with the Tipsy permit renewal in April…..the Pushpak permit and 50 hour checks in May and four new wings spars to pay for on the BE2! 😮
#738 Mr Tips demonstrating Tipsy (Trainer?) at Fairey Heston aerodrome

DC
Nice one DC, very close! It is in fact the importer Brian Allen, at Heathrow in 1937. I promise not to try a similar stunt with G-AISA on the 70th Anniversary!
Rather more gentle low flying – in the days when U-tube was someting in the WC………..
Date 1937. But can anyone guess the airfield????:diablo:
Blue Max is probably right (he usually is) in saying a Canadian Tiger, but it also looks rather similar to that in a “cabin” Moth like a DH85 Leopard Moth.
It least this might give you an idea of the types of instruments that woud be fitted.
I can’t remember for sure, but it is almost certainly either 3/16 ply doubled up behind some instruments or 3/8″ ply.
This is a reasonably original panel (two new broomheads, three new handles) attached to G-ANFM.
