RE: History of the comet at Gatwick…
I seem to vaguely remember hearing something about it being loosely reassembled somewhere else to be used as a film set.
RE: As far as I know…
Wow, thanks everyone. Funnily enough I was just about to ask for any decent JMC 757 pictures as next month starts the painting process to the Tommy Cook scheme. So whether we liked it or not (I didn’t originally but eventually grew to like it) it’s good bye to snot green and hello to a more conventional scheme.
As I mentioned in another post I sometimes hold back from saying certain things as data protection (in all forms) seems to be the hot topic in our lot at the moment. Still there are a few things I guess I could let out the bag. For example, at the moment the hot favourite for our new callsign (and by the way in airline terms c/s generally stands for callsign rather than colour scheme!) is Globe. It was going to be Global until someone pointed out that Global was the callsign for the aircraft in ‘Airplane’!!! The company are keen to get similar callsigns for the JMC, Condor and TC Brussels operations so someone suggested ‘Can’t Cook’, ‘Won’t Cook’, ‘Don’t Cook’! Now that would have been funny. Apologies to overseas members as that is a play on the name of a UK TV program.
RE: Pic Of The Day-09/10/2002!
If I was flying either of the piston twins I’d be more worried about what is in front out of view in the picture. Assuming there is other sizeable commercial traffic in front it’ll be wake vortex going through their minds.
RE: History of the comet at Gatwick…
T5 – I was taking the pi55 out of the old Death Cruiser 10. They had a dreadful dispatch rate at the end of their days (hence why they were replaced with A330’s). Whenever we saw one moving under it’s own power it was considered a great sense of achievement!
RE: History of the comet at Gatwick…
T5 – You mean the DC10’s actually moved!!! We all thought that they were permanently tech! 😉
RE: What car do you currently drive?
Peugeot 106 diesel (wifey has a 206 diesel), Yamaha XP500 and of course my other car’s a Boeing 😉

RE: Comet at Gatwick
The Trident (in navy blue and white, although extremely dirty) was on the fire dump (in the location shown on A330C’s map) but I recently saw it moved to near the FLS hangar. The clipped wing Comet has recently been left at the west end of the west park and is used for training tug drivers to do push backs.
RE: TOP TELLY!
There’s nothing to stop a charter from going anywhere. We’ve done the odd flight out of LHR, etc.
RE: Just curious!!!
Simmer – I haven’t been on a bus for years! 🙂

RE: Tower
I diverted into Budapest earlier this summer with a passenger medical emergency. I was very impressed with The whole airport set up. Very impressive place.
RE: Flightdeck PA’s
How about someone having a go at writing a cruise PA. I would be interested to see how it compares to the standard one in our Ops Manual.
RE: Pic Of The Day-DC 6!
I don’t normally reply to the picture posts (although I do enjoy them) but this one is just superb.
RE: Just curious!!!
Antique Nokia 5 series. Heck, I don’t want to be mugged for my phone. It does exactly what it says on the tin – sends and receives mobile calls. If I wanted games, etc I’d buy a Playstation!
