OneLeft has just been retrained on the 737 as they are operating one out of LHR for the forseeable future. It is making up for being short of one minibus at the moment.
I also had an engine problem in a Saab 340 which caused us to turn back to Guernsey. Funnily enough it turned out to be finger trouble on the part of the Captain (who happened to be the chief pilot)! No problems in the B757 or the A340 (yet)!
All commercial aircraft should be able to climb away from a post V1 engine failure (unless they started off as a single engine of course!). In multi engine aeroplanes twins are more seriously affected by engine failure than tri’s which are more affected than quads, etc.
I always thought that if you took one of the longer DC8’s with the replacement CFM engines and slightly modified the nose you’d have what looks like a 4 engined 757!
How about 2 sheds!
It’s only a disaster from a piloting perspective when considered against the competition. e.g. engines that are known for suffering quadruple roll back at the same time in icing conditions, etc, etc.
Any mention of the ATP, Shorts330’s or BAe146’s is like waving a red flag in front of a bull for wys LOL
Nearly…I think the SH330 (and 360) are excellent. It’s just the engineering disasters that are the ATP and the 146 that I think need condemning!
The A300-600 doesn’t have A330 style glass cockpit. It’s a semi-EFIS system similar to a 737,757,767. The older A300 (B2 & B4) like the Air Scandic ones weren’t glass cockpit at all. They were more similar to a 707, 727…or in fact a DC10!
Welcome back, Comet. Long time, no hear!
Just coz they got the prestigious Thomas Cook name means nowt, they think they are the ‘snobs charter airline’ …
That’s a load of BS…especially bearing in mind a significant proportion of TCX work is Club 18-30!
Did they have the BAe146 or the ATP’s during your time with Loganair Moondance ?
You’re kidding Ren…the arrival of those was probably why he left!!!
Simply stunning. Even more please!
Sorry, I don’t know who WEAC is. I just mean a school that teaches all the way through to ATPL standards as they will be able to provide a more professional approach to your expected standards if that is what you wish. When I did my IR I was instructed by a guy who I felt could have cut me a lot more slack during training however when I then had to fly bigger aircraft i found I had more capacity than many others as I was used to flying to tighter tolerances than the system required.
Skycruiser and I met when we were sat adjacent to each other on our CPL Nav course at PPSC. We have remained friends ever since. I am also pals with the guy who sat on the other side of me who flies A320/321 for First Choice (unfortunately my mate who sat behind us died in a plane crash in the late 90’s). I did all my ground school at PPSC and my flight training at Wycombe Air Centre at Booker over the course of several years while holding down a full time job. It took me 6 months to get a job with Aurigny having flown myself to Basle to try to try to catch the Chief Pilot out there as I knew he had a spare 30 minutes one particular evening. That initiative and dedication caused him to decide that I was the man for the job rather than those that waited for him to return to the UK.
In that case I think I’d definitely be looking for a school (rather than a club) that has the most professional business like approach…but don’t forget to really enjoy the benefits of the PPL along the way!
Most gays have bad tempers
That’s a bit controversial Steve!
