That’s a pretty accurate summary!
I think another important factor to consider is whether you are intendeing to stop at PPL level and fly for fun or whether the PPL is just a route to professional flying.
LOL @ Skymonster! How many times have I expressed my ATP views on this forum!
I fully agree. The APP is something that Oxford are rather guilty of hyping up (eg by creating a selection process for it).
Before I say anything, Martin, please bear in mind that I have been out of the training loop for a long time now so I can’t guarantee the accuracy of my views.
I think it sounds like a good idea so long as you can cope with the work load you are going to find yourself under. Are you sure you would be allowed to sit ground exams at the end of each month rather than in 2 blocks (navs and techs)? Finishing early could well have its benefits with the way the market may start to move in the UK shortly.
I’m not sure that there is a recruiting bubble in the summer. I would say that more recruitment takes place in the autumn and winter…but it’s still a good idea to get yourself qualified asap.
Don’t let the last girlfriend bother you. Remember you are about to spend a working lifetime in the company of the most atractive females you could ever wish to meet!
I have a couple of pals on the 747 with Air Atlanta and they are both in Dubai at the mo. Don’t know who they are contracted to though.
If you do a search you should be able to find some cockpit photos I posted of an approach into La Palma in a 757 about a year ago. Pretty little place.
It worried me when I read the title as I’m in LAX right now.
I am a real Boeing fan and until recently would hear nothing against them, but Airbus have impressed me, they have certainly got their act together and have listened to criticism and taken action.
Bargioni,
As a fellow Boeing to Airbus recent convert I really think you have absolutely hit the nail on the head with your posts. I would not want to go back to any Boeing product as it would be a backward step.
When did you leave EWR? I taxied by an A340 there about 1:00 PM EST but wasn’t ready with the camera to take a picture. Perhaps that was your ride?
Don’t think it was me WD. We left earlier in the morning.
There’s nothing wrong with taking a random route in the oceanic area if it suits your operation. There are many reasons why that aircraft is heading south, probably the most likely of which is that the tracking web site is in error.
BA have largely relied on ground staff being prepared to do overtime to cover their needs. Discontent in the workplace now means that in addition to normal sickness the remaining staff are not volunteering for overtime so the management are being forced into realising the staffing level problem.
It could become very expensive in the long term if you end up keeping a fleet in order to operate from a small number of performance limited airfields. How long until the accountants start looking at modernisation despite tech stops? You can fight it up to a point but at some time you have to accept the operating economics.
Why did BA have to do away with the Manx branding!
Probably because every time you flew on them you ate their entire catering budget!
There is only really one person on this board who actually has really strong views towards one manufacturer and then claims that everyone else creates the conflicts!!!
