Parked under an AN2! I had planned to make some spats for it but I got a job overseas and had to sell it first.
On the trailer behind my car
Wow, I didn’t realise Carlos’s site was still running. When I had mine there were only 2 flying in the UK although several others do exist and are possibly now airworthy. Mine (G-BMVU) was the lower power 22hp while the other (G-MONI) was the high power 30hp version. All UK Moni’s had to have rivetted wings to satisfy the PFA which was a good thing. My rivets were all recessed and filled giving me a much better glide performance than G-MONI’s exposed rivet heads. Both of our Moni’s were converted from monowheels into conventional taildraggers. I know a guy who owns a tri-gear Moni with a total of 6 hours on it which is in fabulous condition and probably perfectly capable of getting a permit with no hassle. He is probably open for offers. I paid £2500 for mine with no permit and sold it for about £4000 a couple of years later having flown many hours in it. It lived on a trailer in my drive and I just dragged it to my local airfield and rigged it (about 15 minutes) whenever I wanted to fly. I saved myself thousands in hangarage.
No never. I cam back from Hurghada on Friday night with a full moon. The moonlit views of Mont Blanc were simply stunning.
Did you have to design for P&W nacelles?
My money says it’ll be dropped from production inside 4 years.
If you wish to simulate night flying…stay up all day until you are really tired, shut yourself in the cupboard under the stairs with a torch until morning. Every 20 minutes turn on the torch and read the gas meter. Repeat until morning arrives or you just can’t stay awake any longer. If charter, repeat behaviour 3 times a week through the summer season. If low cost, repeat until retirement.
Condor Still have B753, B763 and A320 in sizeable numbers.
Yes
Middle age allows me to find Carol Vorderman VERY attractive!
I believe most (if not all) of Condors 752’s are heading to Russia.
If you want to make it fully realistic, buy a newspaper and screw it up before reading (adds to the authentic ‘just found it in a seat pocket on turnaround’ feeling). Spend the cruise doing the crossword and studying the shapes on page 3 before asking the cabin crew/wife what meals are left over from the galley/kitchen. Wolf the food down so quick it gives you indigestion and hold all your farts in until landing as with only two of you up front it’s just too obvious who dealt the crime.
Now that’s reality!
Didn’t they remove seat pockets recently and attach the safety card onto the back of the seat in front? This quickens their turnarounds as there are no seat backs to be cleaned.
Matthew – I can’t see an A330 with incompatible engines to the current fleet being taken on. Even if an RR one becomes available the leasing agreement still needs to be favourable for both parties for it to be signed.
Green – I’m talking about TCX (identifiable by the fact I mentioned it being a third A330, a type FCA doesn’t operate). 763’s could come from Condor but I wouldn’t place any bets on it. Freshly negotiated leases are very affordable these days. I reckon most 763’s would be available for a fraction of the price we must currently be tied into for our 752’s.
