    Target towing pod illumination

While we are on the subject of parts, can anyone help with this one off conversion that WJ639 was subjected to. As it would be hard to explain I have included some pictures! These are pods underslung from the aircrafts engine bay to illuminate the Tarrant Rushton Target Towing Pod….. Can anyone add any more information to this and what glass was used in this hole. I think it may have been something like a bedford truck headlamp etc because before it was smashed by vandals I remember it being convex (buldging from the pod).

    Regards,

    Phil

    Canberra cockpit

    Hi,

I’m going down to the museum tomorrow to start an inventry list of parts up. I know most of the instruments were removed and stored away for protection but I guess there will be some items missing. Have you got many internal spares if I sent you a list once compiled??

    Regards,

    Phil.

Yep, she will retain her 7 Sqn markings coded 39. If you hear of any parts to help me out on this, please contact me. Once I start on her I will post regular updates to keep all Canberra nuts up to date!!!

    Gloster Meteor F.8 WL181

He sure was a legend in his own time and because of this it is the North East Aircraft Museums plan to dedicate our Meteor F.8 when restored to him as it looks very likely he flew our aircraft as leader of the Evergreens display team based at RAF Manby and Strubby.

    See link below.

    Regards,

    Phil.
