Hi All,
I know this thread is quite old but while searching for things on Wig Bay for my Grandfather i came across this site.
My Grandfather is 82 and has just been given an ipad for an early christmas present, so i am going to teach him how to surf the net etc!!!
The subject of wig bay and the flying boats means so much to him as he spent his whole life dedicated to aviation and spent many years working out of wig bay then the west freugh before moving on to Farnborough……. he has a vast knowledge of these areas and is still as sharp and witty as he was back in the day, he can remember every little detail about the wig and has what i believe to be one of the only hand written log books of flights in and out of the wig… as well as a great collection of pictures from his flying days around the world and i believe he has many taken at the wig.
Once his broadband is connected at his house i will show him this forum and see if he can answer some of the questions raised regarding the bay.
It still amazes me how much the man knows and how much he has seen with regards to aviation.
I will get some of his pictures and scan them so i can post and share with others.
If anyone would like to know anything else about the bay, please post here and i’ll pick his brains… he loves to talk about things from back in the day.
Cheers
Kevin
