Indeed, the AAHF Skeeter is grounded because of that very problem 🙁
Here’s XR954 for good measure, snapped on a recent trip to the Museum…

NATY will fly, without doubt.
I’m told the Ecuador Strikeys are still flying!
I believe the SOAF Strikemaster came back with the Omani export Hunter T.7 late last year .
Yep. The Hunter is currently in store at Exeter with the Hunter Flying Club.
It’s back in July next year 😀
Yeovilton used to clash with Flying Legends in the mid-90s.
It didn’t work out too badly, with some aircraft displaying in the morning/early afternoon and heading straight to Duxford after their display.
August is out of the question as the base is on main leave for most of the month.
Both the Mk.I (W5856) and Mk.II (LS326) Swordfish have corrosion in their wing spars, thus grounding them.
LS326 should be back in 2006, but it is dependant on BAE-Systems finishing the repairs in time.
Work on the Hawks and Harriers etc. takes priority, so it’s a case of only working when manpower is available.
Nice pics. Which Harvard was it?
I am 99% sure that the board in front of the aircraft said “Thruxton” if that’s any help. Could have been G-BSJT or G-BJST?
Who drove the Vixen & Hunter?
Brian Grant did both.
Still at least next years event, the Navy will have one fixed wing jet left to display… the Seahawk 😮
They’ll still have the FRADU Hawks Dave, though it would be much better if they were Hunters!
The FAA may still have one or two Harrier T.8s on strength next year as well.
Yes, the JP T.5 that normally resides at Yeovilton (dunno the tail number) did display as a last minute stand-in for Hercules.
The JP that displayed was Mk.5A XW289 G-JPVA, owned by Kennet Aviation.
It was flown by John Beattie, who also flew the Skyraider later on.
Thanx for the posts chaps. I agree fantastic looking jets. Attached is a pic of G-MOUR taken just recently. Can any of you put any other names to faces so to speak? I remember G-FRCE being in an all blue scheme more than several years ago and G-TIMM used to be in a silver scheme. Are they still flying and in what livery?
So are we currently at 4 flyers so far in the UK??
G-TIMM is still flying. It used to be in silver/yellow bands as XM693.
It is now painted up as ‘XS111’ in Red Arrows colours.
G-FRCE recently returned to the air, and is marked up in its ex-military identity
of XS104, in Red Arrows colours.
There are two other fliers: G-MOUR at Kemble and G-RORI at North Weald.
G-NATY/XR537 is under restoration at Bournemouth, and has recently been re-sprayed…
…into Red Arrows colours.
However, this aeroplane did actually serve with the team, and led it on many occasions.
HTH,
Mark
VC10 also arrived. 😎
These babies…
