It doesn’t look likely I’m afraid, the Swordfish Mk.I will probably fly the RNHF flag solo at the show.
HTH,

Best wishes to you Paul and all the other members of your family.

I remember during a trade day at Farnborough 2000 we were due to get a flypast from a B-1B. We waited as Lasham and the airborne microlights/glider got a (un)pleasant surprise 😀
The SHARs do not the best safety record compared to other types, so I’d say the chances of seeing them fly after they have been retired are remote.

Two of the WoGB/Flying A Services warbirds have been made available for sale through Courtesy Aircraft Sales of the USA.
The two warbirds, a P51D and Wildcat have been listed on the site for some time.
HTH,
There’s also a Fly in Australia with the RANHF, not sure if it’s airworthy though at the moment.

Dan Griffiths told me at Coventry that he was hoping to fly the Mig 17 by the end of the year.
The DHA engineers are very busy at the moment with keeping the display jets serviceable, and carrying out a service on a pair of JPs. I suspect once the season is finished the MiG 17 will be rescued and work will re-start. Completion by the end of the year would indeed be possible, they have a good team down there.

Looking forward to the Sea Fury next year. It is such a shame we never got to see the Firefly with the Sea Fury. Some may have before, though i never had the chance (too young). *sigh* RIP Bill and Neil.
When I was four I remember seeing the Sea Hawk, Sea Fury T.20 and Firefly fly together at Yeovilton. Such a shame that the formation will not be repeated ever again. 🙁
Regards the MiG 17, if you are meaning the one at Hurn, it is currently stored in a corner of the DHA hangar with only egg whisks for close company 😮
I wouldn’t be surprised if it does appear next year though, externally she looks sound.
Looking forward to seeing the Sea Hawk, Swordfish II and indeed the Sea Fury next season, they will be a perfect tribute for Bill and Neil.

Not sure what the plans are with any of the FAAM reserve collection exhibits. Over 50% of them are dismantled and it would be highly likely that XA466 is stored like this.
It would probably need some restoration work before it goes on display. I seem to remember it being on display outside the FAAM in the 80’s before it disappeared to Wroughton.
HTH,

The P.1067 and all its decendants of course 🙂
Others that must be mentioned are the Canberra, Buccaneer, Sea Hawk and Vulcan.

A few people have said to me and I agree, about how a “100 years of flight” flypast could have been staged.
From the fabric and string gems through to the Vampire and Meatbox, and right onto the present day Typhoon and B2.

The Seahawk may be a pure stock BAe Hawk from FRADU at Culdrose perhaps.
The RNHF Stringbag (<– that one) will also be attending the show.

Yeovilton 1985 Air Day when I was three years old 😀

I believe that there are two airworthy worldwide, one each in Canada and the USA, with a third undergoing rebuild in Australia for the Royal Australian Navy Historic Flight (RANHF).

Very sad, my sympathy goes to their families.
Woke up to news Sunday Morning ( happened overnight our time)
Thankfully haven’t seen any video footage. Believe this aircraft once operated by RAN.
Yes WB271 was bought back from Australia in 1967 via HMS Victorious, and it was presented to the Fleet Arm Museum that same year. In early 1972 work began to return it to flying condition and by the end of the year it was airworthy as part of the newly formed Royal Navy Historic Flight alongside Sea Fury FB.11 TF956 and Swordfish II LS326.
