Well we’ll have photo’s tomorrow folks, coz Im going looking. So to clear this up as it crashed before I was born, did it crash in Cherry Lane or did it crash elsewhere then moved to the playground afterwards? Oh the next street along by the way is called “Sycamore Close” although that could mean anything in Crawley as they name streets after anything 😀 Bex
Fine effort Bex, better than I could do;) .
I am doing some 144th kits at the moment but personally I prefer the other way of making yourself go blind:diablo: .
Regards,
John.
ROFL yes its certainly made me go cross eyed a few times thats for sure, thanks for the comment. FUnny u should mention 1:144, next on the list is my fave commercial tin can, Boeing 707 in BA livery. Bex
Hardest part to get right would be the peeling back paint effect as on the real one.
Spot on Peter, tried 3 times repainted it 3 times gave up and just used silver lines although my Version 2 will have something better than just silver lines…. I hope :diablo: Bex
I left Crawley in 1975 and haven’t been back there for years. I suspect that the Sycamore disappeared long ago – and that the old adventure playground is now a housing estate! Anyhow photos of the site, as it now is, would be interesting.
Hmm 1975 I was one LoL I will take a wander over there and snap away. Other half on 12 hr shifts at the mo so it will be a good excuse to get the 4yr old Demolition Expert out the house for a bit. So I will have them uploaded on my fotopic site by this time tomorrow evening, no problem especially telling him we’re standing on an old crash site, hes aircraft mad and hes seen the Sycamore at Weston too 😀 Bex
Wow, I live in over in Tilgate, not far from Langey Green, could someone provide more info into the crash, as in when & why. If anyone would like photos of the area now I can always nip over and try and get a couple. Bex
UPDATE
Well cockpit now fitted should have decals etc fitted tonight so final complete photo either tonight or tomorrow. Bex
Great photos, the first shot was great with the geese, but the Griffon gets my vote, thanks for sharing. Bex
There’s your answer, Bex – I knew SierraEchoFred of our Scandinavian “Aviation Mafia” would come up trumps in the end!
THank you everyone for your help, would any of you mind if I kept you pictures for a future model project? If you want to see what Ive been to recently nip over to the Models forum page and you’ll see my interpretation of 6Sqns XX119 Jaguar in its Kitty Kat colours 😀 Bex
arent the last three PR.9s effectively life expired?
Possible, wheres a PR9 expert when u want one 😀 However, probably a nice strip down & rebuild with OEM backing should sort them out. Bex
Im sure bex would agree with me on this, but i for one would love to see a couple more canberra’s on the uk circuit, certainly not quite as demanding as a vulcan? 😀
Oh I wont deny it Ben and I reckon most regulars on here know Im a little bit of a Canberra lover 😮 Id love to see more Cranberrys up where they belong thats for sure. AA do a cracking job keeping WK163 up, and I believe theyve also got the blue T4 on her way to getting her “Ticket to the Sky” aswell. However, theres 3 PR9’s that could be on the circuit and theres plenty of complete airframes around that could given the right backing to grace the skies again, Id certainly help, even its just with a paint brush!!!
They might not be Vulcans, but in aerobatics a Cranberry would give XH558 a run for her money. Roland Beamont had a habit of getting a rollocking from the powers that be for doing things “that a bomber shouldnt be doing” LoL
Bex
Thanks Zoot, they brightened up a rather dull evening, those Cranberrys & the Vulcan sounded rather nice 😀 Bex
What about the next big thing a Gannet ????
Now that would be very nice…….. yes please 😀 Bex
WOW
Graham, thanks for the link, all I can say is WOW!!! Oh & good luck too 😀 Bex
just need a Lanc to complete the set LOL I wish:D
Not quite Graham, need a Hurricane then your set will be complete :p However, once you have said Hurricane, then gimme a call, and Id love to help u look after it………. D’oh my secrets out, Cranberrys aint my only vice 😉
Bex
Ok Its a squadron insignia for a Swiss air force unit. I have no further info.
I flew Dakota OY-BPB as PAX from Sola airport Stavanger in 1996,with AN 2 and Dakota LN-WND in close formation.
LN, thanks for trying. It is a rather nice insignia though 😀 Bex
