What I thought was amusing was the amount of Calor Gas cylinders being delivered. Now, these Eco Loonies are protesting about Climate Change, so why arent they erecting wind & solar powered generators to provide for their cooking & heat instead? I wonder how many of them dont have electricity and mains supplied water in their houses? Bet they all do. I wonder if theyve bothered to look at aviation history, and worked out that the early juice drinking jets have either been severely modified to comply with modern regulations or simply scrapped to provide these idiots with drinks cans & razor blades. I wonder if the chap at Manston fancies doing a flyby with his 707 at Stupid O’Clock in the morning before he fits his Hush Kits etc. Hmmm loadsa noise and pungent black smoke, fine sense of humour. 😀

Transporting them there…….. well I saw signs being shown for bodies from Scotland to meet up, how did they get there? Train? Coach? Hmmm loadsa CO & CO2 producers there and I bet a few drove their own cars too.

Paul Dyson mentioned living near airports, ok, fair enough Im biased, but living near Gatwick can be a pain. Depending on the wind direction depends how much noise there is. Yes, large turbofans are bl00dy noisey, especially at 1 or 2 am, but I chose to live here, so I get on with life. I must admit though one thing that does annoy me, is a foggy morning when the fog stinks of aviation fuel, but, theres nothing that can be done about it and Gatwick has been around longer than Ive been alive.

Hmm corking farm animals, great idea, great for the enviroment but……. either well be shot at by farting cows or there will be exploding cattle plastered across the fields. What do we do about the wild animals? Love to see someone try corking a Tiger LoL 😮

FInally, I have a request, having worked very hard transporting people & goods around the country for 15 years and loosing my job through no fault of my own, could we be a tad more specific when describing people on benefits please.

    UPDATE:

Having read Megalith’s post, perhaps I have been a bit judgemental by describing these people as Eco Loonies & Idiots. Having thought about it, in hindsight after typing my above post perhaps I have tarnished the majority of well meaning people with the same brush as the minority whose sole aim is to use anachistic methods to get their own way. FOr this I appollogise.

    I want one

Theres never a winning lottery ticket around when you need one 😡 At the moment, the piggy bank dont even rattle. However, my birthday is coming up so anyone fancy giving me a cracking birthday pressie, hint hint grovel grovel LoL.

Seriously though, whats the betting the sale price is a darn sight more than the present owners paid for em. And from this, the rumour that the MOD was gonna lease em back must have fallen through too.

I find it intriguing that these Eco Loonies target BAA. BAA own a chunk of land that AN Other uses for their big noisey smelly aeroplanes (Yum Yum). So why arent they protesting about roads being built? Oh no thats typically Un British isnt it? Also, if they want to see polution at its best, then I suggest they go and have a look at some of the diesel trains knocking around. EG, when I worked on the rails, I started up a diesel loco, and went for a brew & smoke whilst it sorted itself out, within 7 minutes we had the local Fire Brigade with Blues & Twos wailing because they’d been told one of our trains was on fire (the exhaust had obliterated most of depot area and Dover Mainline)

Now, something else springs to mind, J Boyle mentioned the “Old Nuclear Free Zones” have to laugh at that, Lewisham has “Nuclear Free Zone” signs all around it, not on a Thursday it aint, not with a Nuclear Waste train trundling through.

Almost finished now, I wonder if the Eco Loonies expect the human race to sit in their houses and do eff all? Its because of people like them this countrys transport network has gone down the bog and yet they also moan like mad when their trains / buses etc are late.

Finally, Lance, whats wrong with using Kamikaze B747’s and water injected Harriers as a means of crowd control? It might teach them not to mess around with aviation 😀 Hmmm where’s an A10 when ya want one tee hee.

Not sure, but what I will do, is take my camera next time I see dad and get a shot of it and make a note of the painter. My dad used to run the Combined Cadet Force unit at Whitgift, and if I remember correctly, there was a fiddle and one of the schools Old Boys managed to arrange the Flight for the units 4 yearly Assualt at Arms.

    Pimpernel,

Re the painting, if its the one I think it is, then there should only be 2 copies of it, BBMF have one and my father has the other. It would be the Flight over Whitgift School, South Croydon, Surrey, June or July 1986.

    Bex

UPDATE: Just spoke to dad, there should be 3 copies, BBMF, dad & Whitgift School. D’oh!!!

    Stupid Question

Heres a stupid question for you all:

Why is the museum called Second World War Aircraft Preservation Society, when according to the aircraft they have there, the only one that might even be close to WW2 would be the Auster, nowt else there fits in?

Or am I just being blonde again? 😀

Herky youre quite correct, also I should have used different words:

In the later Mks of the B57, Lockheed dropped Canberra and EE and our Government didnt do anything about it. As for the B57G, yes it was the Night Hawk, and keep your eyes out over on the model forum, because I’ll be building a 1/72 model once Ive built my Shackleton. Bex

It is still know as a Canberra as it was in the USAF

That is correct, part of the original License agreement between English Electric & Lockheed Martin stipulated that the B57 and varients thereafter must be called Canberra.

Just remember that the frontline fighters of 60 years ago are making a comback NOW. Its taken the best part of that time to get the correct level of legislation, enthusiasm, etc. Who’s to say that in 60 years time, enthusiasts will not resurrect the ‘forgotten historic aircraft of the early 21st century’ . Americans are flying some pretty heavy metal aircraft on their experimental register already. One day, a tornado or buccaneer will be a feasable option, just not yet. Preserve what we can in as good a condition as we can, and wait for the day we can fly them….

Finally, a sensibable answer, thanks John.
