Welcome
Hi Jayne,
Welcome to the forum, as your sons will tell you, theres a lot of knowledge here and dont be afraid to ask anything. Ive only been on the forum since November and have a few great friends, and I actually met one last week.
Have fun
Speak again
Bex
The thread about Faygate scrapyard has a couple of posts on lifting guages so I wouldnt trust this lot as far as I could throw em, specially as GAM aint that far where these guys have been wandering around.
Bex
I have to agree with Martin with this one. Ive seen his photos of Long MArston and can confirm they were taken outside the fence. I would never dream of climbing someones fence to look at or take a photo of something without permission. Theres an aircraft scrap yard near GAM I would love to get round, but, theres no way on this planet I would just turn up and walk in, Id ask first, and thats exactly what I intend to do. Besides, Id like the chance to ask the owner if he may be able to help with aquiring parts for 773, which if I just walk in I can imagine Id get a rather impolite version of “Go Away”. Im pretty sure most other people in mine & Martins shoes would also have the same plan of action.
Bex
My site security contingent is down to 2; Smith & wesson….
Stuart,
I like your thinking :diablo: Im sorry for my earlier daft comments. Bex
Oh ang on, is that the sight I should have the nose of 773 Les?
Ive left the question above, but after a little more thought, Im pretty sure its a “Banana SIght” used for PR work, not bombing. Bex
I think its a “Banana” bombsight, cant remember the correct Cranberry terminology though.
Bex
Hmmm well done Peter, these idiots give genuine enthusiasts a bad name and stop a chance of access to someones business.
Bex
Peter has just beaten me to a question. I was under the impression however this impression might be wrong, that people have offered their help but it has been declined?
Dave, finally, in light of my er daft comments, thank you for your words of support and encouragement.
Bex
I think these sort of comments are a bit below the belt old chap (and Rebecca)
This is a public forum with lots of members, and some of us here know & count the people you refer to as friends, so you could end up being the one knee-capped !!
:dev2:
Dave,
Ok point taken, it seems my sense of humour has gone perhaps a little too far. I hope u can 1. Accept my apologies. 2. See a bit humour that went a little too far?
Bex
Martin Withers I believe
Thanks Matt, hows life long time no see. Bex
Sadly, it’s not illegal to buy and aircraft and then let it rot.
If the owners don’t want to play ball – then move on, do what you can somewhere that it’s welcomed.
ok – common sense over – can we threaten to knee-cap the guy?
you have a good point there about purchasing aircraft, but I also like ya last idea LoL :diablo: Bex
Thanks for the piccy Paddy, shes looks really good up there, but thats one bird they deffo wont let u into!!!! Bex
Can we please stop calling this place a museum, it gives all genuine museums a bad name as well as all the hard working people who look after the exhibits, scrapyard yes, museum no
Cant argue with this, I heartily agree with Seaking on this. Bex
The Meteor owner wants to keep it as an investment for his son.
The remaining airframes are owned by a father and son who now prefer to go fishing on sundays.
Well does the Meatbox owner realise there might only be a pile of dust by the time his son gets old enough? And looking after said investment would be a good idea.
Fishing, hmmm ok, lets go find the blokes & use them as bait? Seriously, what sort of idiot just wastes this sort of history? Ah I remember now, the arrogant muppet who thinks “Look wot Ive got, u aint and I aint lettin u have it”
Bex
What a waste, some beautiful aircraft just rotting away. Anyone know who owns them? Bex
