That would be greatly appreciated……whatever it is! Sticking my neck out, any chance of pics of the Gannet.

    I love Gannet porn!

Am I the only person in the world who finds the Gannet and Vickers Varsity REALLY attractive aeroplanes?!?!?!?

    C6

C6 I like Gannets too but Canberras a little more, hence I have 1 model Gannet & 5 diferent Cranberrys all 1:72

But I hope this one will keep ya going: XL472 @ GAM, Surrey: Bex

Wessex Boy, ok jealousy started to creep in with the photos of the models, but the beer in the fridge, well thats torn it, that is just brilliant, good drills LoL.

I wonder if me posting this guys unfortunate crash has been interpreted as me taking the mickey, especially after my little boo boo the other day with a poor choice of thread title. I actually admire this guys hard work to make a very good model, ok somewhat jealous too I have to admit. Also its a chance for forumites to show off their hard work too and discuss various model projects and ideas…………….. or am I being paranoid? Oh once I find my camera I will hopefully have some photos of my dining room ceiling. Bex

Damien, I think u missed the last line of my post, it points out that I dont really know much about Valiants and therefore Im in no position to make too many comments, think that sorta says it all really. Bex

Rob, definately this story shows that the Valiant is not a good model to build in anyway shape or form!! The real ones had a very short career with the odd crash or two, this model…….. well the story says it all.

Although I have to say, Ive never seen a real Valiant, only Vulcs & Vics, so im not really in a position to make too many comments on the Old Valiant. Bex

Well so far ive got 1:72 AS Gannet, Canberra B(i)Mk6 PR9,B57B (with RB57E,PR7 & Mk8 to follow) Tigermeet RF4E then 1:48 F4 FGR Mk2 with my 1:32 on the go at the same time as a 1:72 EA6 Prowler. Im planning 1:72 Black Buck Vulcan & Victor refuelling on the ceiling. My list of kits in my spare room to build is quite large, and the other half has a load of 1:144 Airbus’s (she likes em, why I dont know, im a Boeing gal meself 707 to build) we’re also planning a Concorde & Red Arrows diamond on our ceiling too.

Miniman, Id love some models that big, but our deal is I get to play with a full size PR7 so Im not allowed anything bigger than 1:32 at home  , but I think she might change that when she realises my next F4 is as big as her 1:144 A380 shes building also she still has to see how big my 1:72 V bombers will gotta laugh Bex

Poor guy, I know how he feels, but Id never spend that sort of cash on a model. If I had that sort of money, Id be buying a real aircraft!;)
My missus complains about my modelling habit. I told her that the planes were here before she was, and they’ll be there long after she’s gone!:dev2:

Likewise, but as for the models, im teaching my partner how to build models so i can do what I want LoL She likes her airliners whereas I like my early jets which are slowly filling the dining room ceiling, though I think she might change her mind when she realises just how big my 1:32 Wildhorse Phantom will be LoL And I do have several WW2 fighters & bombers to build for my step sons ceiling too…….. all good fun Bex

I agree C6, Im not a great fan of journalists on the best of days, what have failed marriages got to do with an impressive & expensive model going up in flames? I have enough trouble building non flying model aircraft (Oh and restoring a full size PR7 tee hee) and if that was me, well I think I might just cry a wee bit and throw my handbag. Black Buck Propaganda

One other thing was propaganda, yes pointing out to the Argentinians that the possibility of having a Vulcan knocking on their door was there, the other aim was for home front morale, to point out to us all that action was taking place and the “Iron Handbag” wasnt taking things lightly. If Im wrong with this interpretation from things ive read & heard then I look forward to being educated on the above.

How about the Pahpos Shackletons? Either that or Newark’s Shack – it would be good to see and hear all 6 engines turning and burning!:D

If you like Shacks then our museum has 2 Mk3’s, 1 of which is a runner though with only 4 out of 6 running, tried to send u a PM but it wouldnt let me so hopefully others will forgive me for adding our website:

Personally I think replicas are a waste of space in a museum and I’d scrap the lot. There are plenty of real aircraft worthy of preservation. If a type is extinct we can remember it in small scale models and photos.

Interesting point of view, however I have a question for you, what would u think if u saw a Canberra with metal plates made from non canberra metal & control rodding from a Victor?

    :diablo:

ROTFL good one TT, lets just hope they dont watch the whole lot, coz if i remember there was one that had a load of prop fighters etc. Bex :diablo:

THanks for sharing that photo, it looks really good. Technicallity time, and a question for people to think about, Tornados might still be in service, but there are a few preserved, so to me, that makes them historic (ish) even tho they replaced a few of my favourite aircraft (cough) LoL

There will always be the purest who says it doesn’t sound like a merlin or a DB but in 30years these engines will be coming up on the 100year mark and what transport authority is going to allow them to fly.
    J

Beurling, u made quite an interesting note here about engines and their possible future, I thought of something else to add to age. Now dont get me wrong Im not an expert on the eviroment, and this is just me thinking aloud and to find other peoples views on this subject. Various governments have been and still are legislating against aircraft noise & exhaust pollutants, so I wonder how long it will be before the Green Happy Clappy Brigade start to work on the Historic aircraft that fly. Enginnes would have to be either modified or changed which would be very expensive, then ofcourse no more roaring Merlins, Griffons etc etc Imagine the cost of 4 new or modified engines for Sally B or worse still, 558?
