Having read the views of others after my previous post, I have a Yahoo 360 web space page, and I wrote this excerpt from my blog entry on Rememberance day, I hope you dont mind me sharing these words with you:
88 years ago today the guns in the war to end all wars fell silent after 4 bloody years of horrific conflict. Why didnt we learn after millions died on both sides? Why did we and why do we continue to blow eachother to kingdom come? World War 2, Korea, Borneo, Vietnam, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, The Falklands Islands, The Balkans, Iraq, Ahfghanistan the list will go on. Friends & relatives will die or get wounded in human kinds lust for a fight and our troops will go on dying on Land, Sea & Air. Some may question my views, specially as I am from a Military family and I am restoring a military jet, my views are based on experience, experience in life not warfare.
When I was younger my best friend was an old gentleman who had served in the Army, Navy & Royal Air Force. I sat for many years listening to his stories, his feelings and how bloody terrified he was. He won the George Cross medal for rescuing a pilot of a burning Hurricane at Croydon Aerodrome, until the day he died he was the oldest survivor of the George Cross Society.
My father, hes a proud man, proud he served his country. I am extremely proud of my father for what he has done with his life. But the question I have to ask is this? Why should my father have risked his life just because someone else cant get along, especially in other countries?
At least we have used our senses and realised that our Nuclear Arsenals should never be used, all we can hope now is that extremists dont use this technology God help us all if they do.
I could go on, with views on Religion or Politics but why waste my time and effort and why insult my foreberes with the knowledge that if it wasnt for Religion or differing political views or some nutcase wants to rule the world,or someone wants wipe off the face of the planet someone doesnt conform to certain ideals all that remains for me to say is this:
Thank you all for making my world a safer and more pleasant place to live, thank you to people I do not know and will never meet, I have known and still know that are risking their lives for us, however I am so sorry we who live on still have not found a way to live as one in harmony. Governments & Monarchies change, Old Soldiers never die they just keep fighting one way or another. I will always remember you, we will always remember you.

Amazing photos Kev, keep up the good work!!! Bex
Les, Malc has done his usual high standard of work, is there anything he cant do?? Im er maybe having second thoughts on 773, once ive finished her maybe i’ll hide in the bushes if he comes down to gatwick LoL Bex. P.s: Great photos too
Mart, 12 months and one hand……… well from what friends have been saying on the jungle drums isnt now getting to the stage of “The Royal Aeroplane, The Royal Ship & The British Soldier” LoL sorry getting cynical again D’oh!! Bex
true, didnt know u could get a book on them, mind u i shouldve known better LoL But also I have a wicked sense of humour and would love running circles round the RAF, besides which gettin the info then saying “Oh sorry not what im lookin for” would make my day. Just abt to mail u some of todays photos, but diary will have to wait as Im too tired and its all stored on my other computer. Bex
dont know how to get a list, but u could ring each station, phone numbers available on the net due to the FoI act, just blag it and say “Im restoring such & such just wondering what ya gate guard is” etc etc. Bex
there is another method, get them to assist in foreign mine clearance, just accidently forget to tell them where mines are and let the gits find em by trial an error, and if theyre still alive when they finish then they can home. Reckon the goody 2 shoes brigade will throw a wobbly at this one. Bex
always have to have 1 show off LoL!!!!!!!!
well shame about the swift, oh well another one bites the dust or should that be “will be a pile of dust”?
and let me guess, the owner wont look after it, allow someone to look after and finally the dosy pillock wont part with it either!!!
Id also make sure Gatwick got a fair chunk too. Oh me camera died got too wet and it was too windy to go climbing up the Gannet today 🙁 Got a couple of snaps of 773 shattered nose tho & XP 398 (lello whirlygig). Back to subject, im sorry it does pee me off alot to see valuable airframes left to rot even more so when the donut who owns them wont accept any help too. Bex
Can I have a Blue Peter badge too? Well if I ever win the lottery the first thing I’ll is buy myself a pair of working RR Avon 107’s, now that would REALLY wind the other half yippeeee. One of the reasons I got out of rail preservation is that visitors rarely got to see anything other than a working loco or a bloody great set of wheels from the ground and snotty empire building attitudes didnt help either. Bex
Ok the red whirlygig we got at Gatwick is XP351 as to its history sorry folks cant tell at the mo but if anyone wants answers then let me know and i’ll get them and our yellow one is XP 398. 398 is now our gate guard and needs a wash i got a couple of shots of it today b4 my camera died & i got drenched, and 351 is between the Gannet & Shack “Kilo” in the museum area. Great Wessex photos Phantom. Bex
I may get shot down in flames for this, but…………. why buy old aircraft if your not going to either restore it and allow people to view your hard work or if you restore it to fly then yes fair enough keep the public at bay but still show it at airshows. IF things go pear shaped after you start then why not pass them on to others? Bex.
Oh yes i bet slightly iffy coment there!!!! I just need a hydraulic hand pump to start off with, but with the damage thats been done to the wiring I will need the manual, Malc had a major advantage being a former cranberry sparky also very few of my marking tags are readable.
