I assumed that the dates 17th and 18th were Saturday and Sunday, but according to the Sally B website they were Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday (which rings a bell), they also mention that the weather was OK. Anyway, a few others I found tucked away in the album that I found (other album still to be found):

Glad you like them. There are another 30 or so in another album, I’ll have to try and dig those out to scan.

I remember it being wet, but can’t remember how wet it was but as I (probably, was a long time ago) travelled from the Midlands on the Saturday afternoon to bivouac (overhanging trees and a large polythene sheet) overnight and then do something similar on the way back (on a 250 Superdream), I don’t recall being overly damp.

The Sun also doesn’t appear to have changed their spellcheck to English/English but left it on American/English – either that or either Barry or the Sun has turned American – airplane? I ask you. 😑

The Spitfire 4-ship comprises NH749, G-FIRE, MH434 and a second Merlin-engined aircraft. I think it could be AR213 – I certainly remember seeing a photo in one of Jeremy Flack’s books (which I’m sure was taken at the same event) with these four lined up.

Stands a chance. My log only lists two others, AB910 (not much chance of it being her) and NH238.

Vulcan was XL426; P40 is N94466 (the Fiat behind it is G-BBII); BBMF are PA474, AB910 and PZ865; Wildcat; Bearcat NX700H; Sea Fury WG655; B-17 Sally B G-BEDF (who else).

The ultimate ‘Cool’ car the 1960’s Batmobile
πŸ™‚ ‘Holy cool car’ Batman ‘Kapow’

    Always did love that car.

But I’m particularly partial to one that goes by the name of BMT216A, although I’d willingly settle for her sister FMP7B (if I could afford her) anyone got (in excess of – I’d need to run her) Β£5m they don’t want?

My home phone number is one digit removed from the local golf club and it’s amazing what people say when you tell them they have a wrong number.

I have a similar problem, my number is the same as a local Asian(?) restuarant (prior to that it was a carpet warehouse), it’s just the area code that’s different.

Some people just don’t bother checking before dialing and I get people asking what time I’m open to, giving me orders – the worst of these when they leave it on my answerphone in whatever language the owners of the restuarant happen to speak – I’ll have to check it out one day and ask for a gratis meal for not losing my rag with their customers. πŸ™‚

OH, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
    Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!

The Ballad of East and West
    Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936)

Now the one I remember is:

East is east and west is west
And the wrong one I have chose
Let’s go where they keep on wearin’
Those frills and flowers and buttons and bows
Rings and things and buttons and bows.

Don’t bury me in this prairie
Take me where the cement grows
Let’s move down to some big town
Where they love a gal by the cut o’ her clothes
And you’ll stand out, in buttons and bows.

    etc. etc.

Wow, I haven’t seen (or thought of) it in years.
Yes, the little suckers were cute…and years before R2D2.
I liked the music but since I only saw the film a year or so after it was released, I couldn’t find the soundtrack.

I recall that it (Silent Running) was the support film to something I had gone to see (probably 007 or Connery related) and as I’m not really into sci-fi wasn’t expecting much. But I too enjoyed the music and tried to get the soundtrack without success – maybe I should try again.
