Then of course you saw how dreadful some of the Airfix kits really were & turned to the Jap kits.

Still, in the Roy Cross era, the Airfix box art was simply stunning.

    that’s fairly unfair !!

airfix are to some degree stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place

whilst yes the older generation require super detailed models airfix have to cater for the kids market suplying half decent kits at reasonable pocket money prices to get kids started in the hobby from what i remember airfix or matchbox were your weekly pocket money kits

japanese kits were your birthday and christmas kits and kits you baught when you started earning your own money !!

they are now giving the detail you cried out for ( but you’re now paying to look after johnny chineese instead of keeping british jobs )

one thing for sure if ever increasing detail is required at ever lower prices( how long before they are wholey based in china ??? )

i’d rather pay a little more , have a little less ( i’m a moddeler not a kit assembler !! ) and pay someone in this country a living not someone thousands of miles away that i have absolutely nothing in common with

    Twaddle.

    Utter unalloyed twaddle.

It had nothing to do with “lefties”, nothing to do with “council offices”, but everything to do with a legal requirement in some foreign countries that any artwork on the packaging must faithfully represent the product as packaged.

and where are laws put down ???? national and local government ( councils offices in a nutshell !! )

Yep, but not quite the same in the new packaging, however, much kudos to Airfix for returning the “war mongering” artwork to pi$$ off the lefties lol

not necessarily to pi** off lefties in the mid 80’s airfix did thier artwork with the made model standing on the model kits blueprints ( sales plummeted it left nothing to the imagination you saw the made item) also marketing has found that with actual action involved more sales are achived

the public still wants it it’s the over paid nerks in council offices that try stopping it with foolishness no matter what cost to british business

i find it a crazy world where they censor box artwork but we can watch the daily happenings of war on the tv in glorious technicolour

    Nooooo!

Airfix are little polythene bags with a cardboard header, costing 2/- in WoolliesMoggy

and the accompanying airfix paint in the square glass bottles with screw tops ( pure marketing genius !! ) after the first model you needed more because the screw top was welded on with paint !!

Good takes considering those are mid morning to early afternoon shots judging by sun angle.

about 15.00 aroundabout !! at one point the viewing area was at the other side of the runway

half the time on the viewing park side now you are shooting into the sun
