BAE Systems unveils new solar powered pseudo-satellite

German specific issue? Lack of funding leading to gaps in maintenance perhaps?
As has been pointed out before:

😀
Isn’t that just repeating the comment from a few months back?
We know that some in France don’t think the UK deserves a piece of euro action now, in just the same way as some in the UK don’t want a piece of the action either.
Why no mention of CFTs in this upgrade path? Any thoughts?
dear colleagues from France and America. This is a Eurofighter thread and not for discussion relating to the F35 and it’s ability to perform CAS with or without a French 1940s cannon strapped to it.
Unless you are operating in Sub-Saharan Africa with no bomber force of your own, in which case the B52 and B1 are an irrelevance compared to a gun pod and the ability to fly low.
Anyway moving on to topic, how come there is no mention of CFTs in that AW article and just talk of a big EFT?
Mercurius, I make the point because the F35 is going to be very capable, but for some years to come will still be optimised for US weaponry and so for the UK, stealth is not an option unless they only carry AMRAAM.
What is the UK timescale for Meteor being deployed on frontline F35s and when will they be able to carry ASRAAM internally?
…unless you can’t carry your Meteor or ASRAAM missiles inside the F35 in which case the gap diminishes greatly ;).
I am a fan of both aircraft by the way, but Typhoon is as Typhoon does.
Well you are primarily talking about current F16 operators, and the F35 is better than the F16. For the rest, Typhoon was developed for that role and so takes a significant share of the burden.
Uber-Typhoon proposal for Germany features more powerful engines and systems:
Its been so long since Dassault produced a manned fighter image that wasn’t Rafale. I await the new programme concept art with baited breath- because it’s gonna be a long while before this thing is a reality.
FlightGlobal article on the reuters story:

Fair point. But if you take average point of 80s F22 and naughties F35, thats still 90s
🙂
So, the LM proposal is a hybrid of the F22 and F35 but that is a new aircraft.
If you take the 1980s design of the F22 and put the 1990s F35 bits into it then how is that an aircraft that sustains Japanese industry for the next half century?
The aircraft has to be a new design with new technology surely?
I have no expectation that BAE are going to offer a Typhoon derivative or that Boeing are going to offer the SH in any form.
