In a similar vein – I found this entertaining.

I think these sort of comments are a bit below the belt old chap (and Rebecca)
This is a public forum with lots of members, and some of us here know & count the people you refer to as friends, so you could end up being the one knee-capped !!
Oh do get a grip old chap. I’ve added a smiley to that post for you to better indicate its tongue-in-cheek nature. You are awfully quick to criticise people David.
My original post was one of surprise that nobody was taking care of business at Long Marston, the second suggested that if there was nothing to be done there – move on somewhere that you CAN make a difference.
As for keyboard jockeys – there are many. I’m not one of those and I have the scraped knuckles, bad back, angry wife, and seriously depleted bank account to prove it.
Please do lighten up and don’t attack me just because someone at Long Marston is a friend of yours. Take the humour as it was intended and appreciate that my opinion that it is sad that those aircraft have been allowed to deteriorate is one that is shared by many.
Roy.
Sadly, it’s not illegal to buy and aircraft and then let it rot.
If the owners don’t want to play ball – then move on, do what you can somewhere that it’s welcomed.
ok – common sense over – can we threaten to knee-cap the guy?
Oh Jeez that makes me feel old.
I’ll be an exhibit soon instead of working on them.
*sigh*
That’s criminal.
Are there no enthusiasts in that neck of the woods? I can’t believe how shabby those aircraft have become.
Your garage is empty Jon, and we WILL keep bullying you until there’s something worthwhile in there. :diablo:
I hate posts like this one.
I love both aircraft, have plenty of space to keep them – but we’ve not got the means to go and get them.
I really shouldn’t read threads like this one !!
Removing broken rivets from the floor beams of Britannia G-ANCF.
Refurbing yet more panels from Sea Hawk WV838.
Trying to catalogue the gazillion photo’s people have very kindly emailed over the last 5 years. An impossible task!? 🙁
I dont like paying this country anything, it’s a bloody toilet,
Proud to be English,
Proud of England,
Disgusted by what happened to England..
Amen to that.
What a beautiful airplane.
What a crying shame her future looks so bleak.
I wish I had the funds to rescue her, how many Gannets are there in captivity around the UK?
Congrats to all, I know it’s been a long time coming!
Absolutely Priceless. Thanks for sharing that, I’m sure you will never forget that visit!
I suspect in the coming weeks we will become very proficient at riveting! 😀
Yup. IF we can find enough rivets! 😮
Hi Roy,
Sounds like 5/32″ rivets, but what material and which heads, countersunk, snap head, mushroom head etc?
Alum, solid, mostly countersunk but some dome as well.
do you have rivets there for sale??
Cheers,
Roy.
It’s a beautiful aeroplane and you are lucky to have it. At the very least I would follow cypherus’ suggestions and get her tidied up for static display but try not to damage anything that would prevent a later party from getting her running.
