With talk of Australia replacing F-111’s with Super Hornets at least in the short-term. What are the odds of the Super Hornet defeating a like number of say Flankers and J-10’s of the PLAAF…………… Any thoughts?
Isn’t it more likely that any chinese airforce jet will outnumber the F-18’s about 10:1? If that was the case BVR capabilities are somewhat less important.
Tho I can’t see any major conflict looming for either of those two potential protaganists…
Apologies – I’m one who looks at the pretty pictures but doesn’t read the difficult words… 😮
Strengthening for A380’s, so I’ve been told. Not sure if thats true or not, but the works been going on for a while now.
Theres also other construction work – an expansion of the ramp. Theres a multi-phase expansion plan of terminal 2 over the next decade to increase capacity, including a proposed satellite terminal where the remote stands are now (between T2 and cargo sheds). Theres apparently already provision for a connecting tunnel under the ramp.
MAAS says it will help airlines using T2 to expand, but chances all the extra space the work creates will probably sold to new airlines.
Oh, and they’re building over the staff car park…. 🙁
I can see my office in that shot with the blue walkways/lighting…I can’t escape!
MAN is a great place to view. Nice shots! 🙂
Like the tail, but the ‘XL’ on the fuselage cheapens it. And for some reason looks like it needs a dash of orange….
Did I miss the FCA one??
No problem, glad you enjoyed the flights 😀
Hi tomfellows
Captain on your inbound was Colin Adair (just incase you wanted to know)
Great pics!
… G-OOBA departed for LGW and G-CPEV departed for MAN, is this usual?
Yep, usually to get aircraft correctly positioned for either the next flight or some maintainence. Our B757’s are rated for different MTOW, so only those with the heavier weights may do the longer short-hauls, e.g flights to Egypt or The Gambia where a ‘bus just won’t do.
Lt Kije – yes it was Shaun, how did u know lol?! Both ways the captains reported 3 times, once before departure, once when at cruising altitude and once again shortly before descent.
I know these things…. 🙂 Oh, inbound was Capt Pete Thomas if you’re interested.
Cheers guys!
Cheers guys!
T5, what B757 package are you using? I’ve been trying to find a good FCA model for a while now. Sorry if its been mentioned earlier, just browsing and saw the screenshots!

At the end of the day a charter airline such as First Choice Airways isnt going to install the ultra-plush iPod-esque interiors as shown in the photos, they’re not going to generate the max cash from a fleet of 6 a/c. As with the recently revised B767 interiors, its all about trying to get the balance right.
I see your flight was flown by Captain Shaun Errington – did you get much in the way of info from the cockpit?
Liked the stories of the ‘oohs’ from the pax! They always get a wry grin from me…. 😉
