Oaxaca Class OPV created by Radagast 447 from Shipbuilder.com and modified by me for the Philippine Navy. One 76mm cannon, One 25mm Typhoon mount, Four Penguin launchers, Four 12.7mm heavy machine guns, & One A-109 helicopter.
As you stated in your previous post this is a cheaper ship but this ship and weapon suite would not be eligible for FMS money. I doubt the Philippines would have any interest in something they would have to pay full price for instead of something they can get at an extreme discount through a FMS loan.
Hamilton Class: drop the Phalanx, put a SeaRam there, no need for a 21 round RAM launcher. Why AN/SPS-48?
I wanted to turn the Hamilton Class into a Command and Control Frigate and that is why I added the large 3D Long range surveillance radar and a two layered CIWS defense with the Phalanx and the RAM systems. I was going to add the SMART-L Radar to the image but it did not look right so I settled on the AN/SPS-48 radar. These ships would act as flagships with their advanced long range sensors and command the Sea Fighter Class Corvettes and Ambassador MK.III Class Attack Craft in fleet operations.
*DISCLAIMER = THIS IS NOT MY ART! These images are taken from Shipbucket.com and modified by me. Each photo has the artist’s name in the bottom corner that created these awesome images.*

*2x Hamilton Class Command & Control Frigates
*One 76mm cannon, Two 25mm cannons, One 21-cell RAM launcher, One 20mm CIWS, Six 324mm torpedo launchers, & One A-109 helicopter.

*4x Sea Fighter Class Anti-Submarine & Air Defense Corvettes
*Two 30mm cannons, One 8-cell VL-ASROC system (behind super structure), One 16-cell ESSM vertical launch system (starboard of super structure), One SH-60 helicopter, & One A-109 helicopter.

*6x Ambassador MK.III Fast Attack Craft
*One 57mm cannon, Eight Harpoon launchers, One 21-cell RAM launcher, One 20mm CIWS, & two 12.7mm heavy machine guns.
Create two fleets each containing:
*1 Hamilton Class Frigate
*2 Sea Fighter Class Corvette
*3 Ambassador Mk. III Class Attack Craft
Transfer the three Peacock Class and the one Cyclone Class to the Coast Guard and use all of the other WWII era warships as target practice and turn them into artificial reefs.
*can anyone tell I am super bored this Sunday afternoon?*
Why would Egypt go for the Mig-29 and not a Flanker variant?
The problem for the Philipines is even if they increase their defence budget by 100% it wouldn’t build a fleet that could go toe to toe with China.
I am not sure why I always see these type of arguments. I don’t think anyone expects the Philippines to go toe to toe with China. I also don’t think that anyone expects Vietnam to go toe to toe with China either but at least they still have a modern military which can offer resistance and a deterrence to a foreign enemy. Vietnam is updating their navy with six Kilo class submarines, four Gepard class frigates, and two SIGMA class corvettes while the Philippines are trying to decide if they want to add a third Hamilton class to their Navy. IMHO the Hamilton class ships are worthless in their current state. One 76mm cannon and one 25mm cannon is embarrassing on a 3,250 ton warship. It is true that these ships can be upgraded with Harpoon missiles and a SeaRAM CIWS but who honestly thinks that the Philippines would ever put the money needed for those upgrades into these ships.
All these things would cost money and the Philippines do not spend money on defense. Money that could be spent on defense goes straight into the politicians pockets. Filipino politicians would sell out their country to the highest bidder without a second thought. Maybe it is a culture thing since they have been controlled by Spain, USA, and Japan within the last 120 years. The Philippines has a larger GDP than Vietnam and no where near the military capability as Vietnam. Even African countries like Kenya have missile armed naval vessels in their navy. It is not even funny at this point just super sad. Stalin had a good quote about countries like the Philippines.
“Nobody respects a country with a poor army, but everybody respects a country with a good army. I raise my toast to the Finnish Army”
Josef Stalin, April 6th, 1948
Something that has been bothering me. Why are the rocks referred as the Senkaku / Diaoyu Islands and not the Senkaku / Diaoyu / Tiaoyutai Islands?
Why would the USA purchase attack helicopters to fill a scout helicopter need? The USA already has Apaches and Cobras and does not need Mangusta or whatever chinese copy. I am sure the scout helicopter role will be filled by a Sikorsky S97 type helicopter in the near future.
You are joking me!!
Can the U.S. Army get any Kiowa replacement program right and within a so-called budget??
How many failed attempts and $ billions of tax payers money has this taken?
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again – it’s simple and cost effective – the off-the-shelf purchase and adoption of the A129 Mangusta!
Hell even the PLA/Chinese seem to be able to get it right with their WZ-19! And how much time and experiance has the Chinese had with designing and building specialised helos??Shameful!!

Taiwan
I want to see a scenario with Taiwan’s Mirage 2000-5 fighters supported by E-2K engaging the PLAAF and JASDF in a three way battle royal over the worthless piece of rocks.
The A-10 is a perfect aircraft if North Korea ever tried to cross into South Korea. The damage the A-10 can take and still make it home is amazing. No way a F-16 can compete with that. The B-1B is part of the Trinity Nuclear Deterrent and seen as an important part of American national security.
I have a way to save the USA military $30 BILLION dollars a year. Get rid of the Marine Corp. The Marine Corp is a redundant branch and the army, navy, and air force would be fine without it.
natural way and historical way was that all asian country get along under chinese umbrella. less conflict, more peace.
We could go back to 1942 and just have Japan control everything again. Would that work for you??

LOL– yeah and Nato tanks should be using the German 88, laws of physics say it has the same destructive power of 120– ROFl.
W.T.F are you talking about? The G7 can fire standard ammunition to a maximum range of 24.6 km. It can achieve over 29.3 km with base bleed ammunition and 36 km with a Velocity-enhanced Long-range Artillery Projectile (V-LAP). The G7 ammunition has a greater lethal radius than the older US 155 mm M107 HE projectile. All this means more range and a larger lethal radius than current 76mm and 127mm cannons.
Do you think we will see further orders pass the three currently planned for???
I really hope so and I think so but I was wrong about the Seawolf Class.
A little off topic….
I know that Germany tried their PzH 2000 turret on a ship and had good results. Has any other countries tried mounting artillery on ships with success? I think the Denel 105mm G7 would be a perfect naval gun with longer range than most 155mm howitzers.
Really, Taiwan is in a very bad way because no major arm producer will sell weapons to them anymore. Hell, even the US won’t provide them with more F-16’s. I can tell you many in the US are every up set with President Obama over the deal. As many just see the President caving to China. (no good politics in the US)
What do you think Taiwan is going to do when they are unable to purchase conventional weapons because of Chinese political pressure? They are not going to roll over and surrender their island, freedom, and way of life they have enjoyed for the last 60 plus years. I believe if Taiwan is denied conventional weapons then they will keep on developing longer and longer range cruise missiles and start fitting those missiles with nuclear warheads. I feel like it is in China’s best interest to allow conventional weapon sales to Taiwan to give them a sense of security because if Taiwan feels like it is trapped in a corner with no help against their number one enemy then they will start developing weapons of mass destruction and everyone in Asia loses.
Just my two cents.
To get back on topic. Can anyone confirm or deny that the Mirage 2000 fleet is scheduled to be retired and what that time frame is?
