“only a sith deals in absolutes”

“A recent article I posted up discusses Russian claims on Baltic states (Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania) and Finnish analysts not believing NATO would come to the party if the Russians retook them. Such a takeover might involve strikes on Swedish and Polish air and naval assets if the Russians believe they would come to the defence of these three countries.

Someone remind the Finns the Cold War is over.
Seriously, this scenario is laughable. It ain’t happening.

I love when people talk about the future in absolutes. Where do I get a crystal ball that tells the future??

Waste of a helicopter landing platform

They are taking up the whole helicopter landing platform for a weapon system that does the same thing as the Phalanx? They should place this weapon system on the Perry Class where the old Mk.13 launcher was and make these ships relevant again.

According to this brazilian site, the Spanish Carrier “Principe de Asturias” will be soon decomissioned

Thailand should buy it! Then they would have two carriers just for show.

GoWind looks really top heavy. I wonder how her sea keeping abilities will be in rough weather.

Be interesting to see if Taiwan ever fits them out with decent systems now.

    Now
One 76mm cannon, Two 40mm cannons, One 20mm CIWS, Eight HF-II launchers, One 4-cell Sea Chaparral launcher, six 324mm torpedo launchers, & one S-70 ASW helicopter.

    Near Future
One 76mm cannon, Two 40mm cannons, One 20mm CIWS, Eight HF-III launchers, One 21-cell RAM launcher, six 324mm torpedo launchers, & one S-70 ASW helicopter.

Looks like decent systems to me.

The Swedes also offered Croatia two Goteborg Class Corvettes if they chose the Gripen. Killing two birds with one stone..

How old is that pic?? That ship looks in ok condition for how long it has been laid up there. It looks a lot better than most Russian ships that have been laid up for a long time. I am surprised to see the 76mm cannon still on board. You would think Italy would want to get rid of these ships and discount them like crazy and just make a potential buyer to pay for new weapons and upgraded electronics.

So we are supposed to have
-A french SAM not in the US inventory
-NSM. I could see that AS a Harpoon replacement
-Two LITTLE helicopters not in the use BY the us military that are far less useful than the MH-60R in ASW and the MH-60S in utility.

Who said this was for the USA??? I was thinking export market.
