We could also just send small sailors to be on these ships. There is bound to be 76 small sailors out of 40,000!
You could man these ships with an all female crew!!!!
Brazil or Argentina should buy the UAE lot or split the lot and Peru should buy the Qatar lot. Mirage 2000 can become the South American Fighter and France can sell weapons and upgrades to those fleets and push Rafale orders to replace or supplement the Mirage 2000 after a few years.
France could be making a lot of money off Taiwan with more Mirage 2000 sales, Rafale sales, submarine sales, and warship sales.
Who? Canada?
Taiwan???
Ukraine looks to Western European yards for new corvette options.
I take they mean “just” Weapons and/or Weapons Systems…..not the ships themselves……….
There are three Nakhoda Ragam Class ships docked in the U.K. looking for a new home. What a great coincidence for Ukraine.
still for sale??
I am very surprised those corvettes / patrol frigates are still for sale. I thought they would be purchased right away after the Brunei government canceled their order. The Brunei government did have to pay a chunk for the ships so some country should get them for a really good deal unless the Brunei government is being greedy and wants too much money for them.
If it aint broke, dont fix it!
It is broke and it needs to be fixed ASAP! None of their ships have surface to air missiles, anti-ship missiles, or any type of anti-submarine warfare equipment. You would think the Philippines would have a better navy for an island nation located in strategic shipping lanes and are next to the contested Spratly islands.
what is in the fact the combat capability of the frigate Perry class used in US navy after the removal of the Mk13 launcher?
They are now Ocean Patrol Vessels. Like most OPVs they have a 76mm multi-purpose cannon, a CIWS or self defense, torpedo launchers for anti-submarine warfare, and two helicopters that can be armed with torpedoes for anti-submarine or Penguin missiles for anti-ship work.
MOSCOW – The U.S. and Ukrainian military plan to discuss deliveries of American warships to Ukraine during a visit to Sevastopol of the U.S. guided missile frigate Klakring, a military-diplomatic source in Moscow told Interfax on Tuesday.
“The transfer of U.S. warships to Ukraine – missile carrying frigates of the Oliver Perry type – could be discussed,” the source said.
What is the best upgrade options for Ukraine?
I don’t think I saw an answer on how many Mk.48 cells can fit on the bow of the Perry class with the Mk.13 launcher removed. What Mk.48 mod launcher would be best for this class?
“add 2×2 Harpoon forward of the bridge,”
Where does Taiwan place their 2×4 HF-II launchers on their Perry Class frigates? Can you not place Harpoons there rather than in front of the bridge?
Thanks
“Personally, I think the Philippines have the best claim…….”
They have the best claim but the worst navy. No reason to claim anything if you can’t back it up. The Philippines should be begging for Perry class frigates and anything else they can get to replace their obsolete fleet of WWII era ships. The only thing worse than the Philippines navy has to be their air force. If the Philippines want any part of the disputed Spratly islands then they have a lot of upgrading to do to their armed forces.
so that means by 2032 will be 50 years,
2032 is probably the year Russia will finish her refit and after about 50 billion dollars they make India pay.
What ships would Ukraine purchase from the USA?? Other than the obsolete Perry Class frigate and the Osprey class minesweeper I don’t see anything in the American fleet that Ukraine would be interested in.
Do prototypes count?
Mirage 4000
It has the size, range, and a ton of upgrade potential!
Lavi
The F-16 is boring!
YF-23
IMO the USA should have purchased a fleet of F-22 and F-23 and cancel the JSF program!
Countries that don’t need carriers
Thailand. They have little use of theirs and the roles assigned to it could be done better by other units.
The only thing you wrote that actually made some sense!
Korea. Nothing but a show of force and arrogance to its neighbors. nice design, but little use in Korea’s strategic objectives.
I disagree. Korea has a navy that can protect and deploy with a carrier and has just as many strategic interests abroad as China.
India. Its enemy is right next door and most of its foreign interests are next to it too.
I disagree. India is a very strong regional player and has many foreign interests. The enemy right next door is not there only enemy too.
Spain. Why do they even need an amphibious assault ship. They rarely participate in wars with the US.
I disagree. Spain has just as many foreign interests as Italy, France, or the UK.
Countries that need carriers:
China. China is the next super power. it has lots of business and strategic interests abroad and it needs to defend them.
I agree.
Indonesia. An island nation like this needs some kind of carrier and a better navy.
I agree they need a better navy but not carriers as this point. If they get a respectable fleet out to sea then they can start thinking about carriers.
Canada. New potential for war over the Arctic Sea, Canada needs something better to project its force.
Same as Indonesia. They need new warships to protect and to be able to deploy with a carrier before they start thinking about getting carriers. Canadians do not like to spend money on defense too so a carrier is probably out of the question.
South Africa.
What are you smoking?
Some countries that should invest in carriers!
Japan (large carriers) = see China and South Korea.
Taiwan (Medium carriers) = see China and South Korea.
Argentina (Small / Medium carriers) = Only if they upgrade their naval fleet.
