Clive.
They were sitting on the Jet Pan at Duxford on Saturday. Well actually 3 were. The HAC Hurricane was sitting on the grass. 😀
Brian
Well the lanc did’nt land but has cleared off to the north.
The ‘breeze’ was across the runway instead of down it, so outside limits and I think it headed back to Coningsby.
Briam
He was watching out for your monopod 😀
It was to cold to get it out. 😀
Brian
Well you did’nt miss much re the Typhoon. It was the quietest and most restrained display i have ever seen by one. Hopefully he’s saving himself for the actual display.
Was a bit boring. I have a sneaky feeling he was spying out landmarks for his display.
Brian
If you’ve not seen it yet Air Show List
Brian
Yes, I believe Sywell and back.
Brian
Brian, i may have missed it somewhere but why did the Nimrod come back dismantled on a trailer?
From the HAC web site:
Nimrod II Update
The Nimrod, as will be known, had an engine problem at the Yeovill (check spelling) display last year. The problems proved more extensive than we first thought, and so the aircraft was brought back to our facility in Sussex, the engine removed and stripped down. The necessary engineering work has now been completed in our own engine rebuild facility at Retrotec and it should be back in the aircraft in February after bench testing. The opportunity was also taken to do a major service on the aircraft down here.
Brian
Propeller was feathered and couldn’t have been that much of a problem as it did a circuit of the airfield first before landing.
Thread drift. The HAC Nimrod arrived on the back of a lorry today.:D
Brian
Seen the weather forecast for Friday. 😀
Thursday, according to their web site, is crew training day for Sally-B with Friday as weather alternate.
Brian
Yes, but I can’t remember which one it was now. Read it on another forum.
I saw last Saturday the T.20 Sea Fury with all it’s panels on and parked in the north side of Hangar 2, where the Catalina had been, along with the MkV Spitfire.
Brian
I’m down Duxford tomorrow. I’ll get you some pictures to stem the withdrawal symptoms 😀
Brian
Very nice indeed Mark. Had it not been for a severe post St Georges Day hangover, I very nearly made the trip up to Duxford today! Gutted!

You should have. Some excellent flying during the afternoon including the Buchon and 2x Spitfires formation flying that evolved into a tail chase.
Brian
As long as they leave it, and Terrance, on the grass for tomorrow 😀
Brian
Question: why have the wing guns been removed?
I believe the guns were ‘borrowed’ from the other Buchon for the original photo shoot and the guns for this one are in the pipeline.
Brian
what gear do you have?
Nothing High-tec Al.
For ground shots I use a Sony Alpha 350 with a Sony 18-250mm lens, shutter priority for the speed. Flying. I now use a Sony Alpha 450 with a Sony 70-400mm G SSM lens, again SP, and I’ts only the second time I’ve used that combination so still getting used to it and the weight of the lens hence the chopped off wing tip on one of the images .
