Was’nt there 2 firefly fuselages at duxford ?
curlyboy
If I remember rightly there were 3 fuselages with CAU being the most incomplete.

Pen Pusher, How come you had sunshine at Wyton, and 5 miles away in Warboys I had mainly cloud and rain on Tuesday?
Wish I had known about this, I would have brought the kids down, didn’t even hear it, which is unusual.
great photos, thanks
As you can see in the second photo, it’s a bit dark in the Warboys direction and apart from a bit of rain at about 4.10 the bad weather seemed to be going either side of Wyton. Fortunate for us. Photos taken at about 4.25.

Pen Pusher…if you are able to spare any weekdays I travel to TFC every day Monday-Friday from St.Ives and would happily give you a lift.
Thank you very much for the offer Bograt but unfortunately I would soon use up all my leave if I went during the week. No problems with weekends though.
However next year I may be needing something to occupy my time during the week what with the closure of parts of RAF Wyton and the possibility of redundancy/retirement looming. 😮
Thanks again for the offer
Brian
Having gratuitously photographed TFC aircraft over the years (see photo gallery link below) it would be nice to give something back in return and having started my MoD career way back in 1980 sweeping hanger floors at Scampton, in between washing Vulcans of course, I would be well qualified for that job.
Unfortunately I have to use public transport at the moment as my motorbike has gone a bit terminal and may be a couple of months before I get a new one. It is a bit difficult getting to Duxford on a Sunday as bus services in this part of Cambridgeshire are not very frequent that day. When I get mobile again I will certainly get in touch and see if volunteers are still required.
Keep up the good work
Brian
I was at Duxford today, and what looks like a fuel tank has been fitted under the fuselage of the Tigercat.

I was particularly impressed when he went into a vertical climb, I have’nt seen that done before.
He went sort of vertical at Wyton and we thought he was going to loop it but he rolled over to level flight at the top of the climb.
Apologies for quality as it was hazy and I don’t have a long lens.
Brian
Just quickly processed these two visitors to Wyton today.

Anybody else see it, or has the sun got to me
The question is ‘Which Canberra?’. The RAF Wyton Families day had a PR9 and the the grey/black one from Coventry.
Did you see the Red Arrows?. They had to curtail their display due to incursions into the restricted air space. According to Red 10 there were two possibly three gliders to blame and a CAA man in the tower was frantically phoneing local glider clubs to find out where they were from.

The Black/Grey one flew over the Co-Op in St Ives, Cambs about 1030ish on Saturday
Thunderbird 3 – Blue Steel rocket!
Very good but that last one is excellent.
