You would think they would have it open over the Bank Holiday weekend, particularly Monday, as there is an ‘Action’ day.

Duxford click PDF link.

The website of the IWM still doesn’t give any information.
I did say it would be a week before the show before Duxford issue a Participation list
Brian
Keep an eye on This Site as about a week before the event a participation list will be posted by Duxford.

At least we have 2 historical flights in this country unlike anyone else in the world.
curlyboy
I assume you are refering to the BBMF and Royal Navy Historic Flight?. Does this on not count? Army Historic Aircraft Flight
Brian
According to ‘Battle of Britain, The Movie’ by Robert J Rudhall, there were two colours used for numbers. Red and Yellow. As the numbers are dark I would say they were red. If that is the case then ‘Red 7’ was G-AWHK and ‘Red 5’ was G-AWHR. ‘HK’ is flying at Breighton as G-BWUE and ‘HR’ belongs to Wilson C Edwards and is stored in Texas.

Slow afternoon at work 😀 😀 😀

On a completely different subject. Is that a silver Pilatus P2 in the back of the photo? Are any of those birds still flying in the UK?
T J
You mean this one. It’s still at Duxford but I have never seen it fly.
Brian
Ollie, your village must really be missing their idiot. There’s a small clue in the sentence you took the trouble to quote: “along with the Hind, the helicopter that is”
Just what do you think that sentence means? Perhaps, just perhaps, it means that Brian’s referring to the helicopter Hind and there isn’t the merest hint of ambiguity.
Thanx Robbo. I deleted the reply I had written before I posted on that one. Realised I could over stepped the mark.
For info Ollie, there are two ‘Hinds’ at Duxford. The Helicopter in Hanger 3 and the aeroplane fuselage, which I photographed last week (see below), in Hanger 4 sitting next to the HAC Storch and Cub. I only mentioned the Hind Helicopter as the Firefly is sitting behind it if any one wanted to find it.
Brian
S’funny isnt it- up until relatively recently a Firefly was at DX anyway – IIRC Evelyn Tensions was transferred to the FAA Museum?

St James’s Park, 06 Jul 05 – Living Legend Museum

Brian
I know i have not been to duxford since legends and i stay out of the hangers because they get packed will have to go again soon.
Saying that i got my friends of duxford news letter the other day and the aircraft in the airspace hangar look excellant, i a firefly going to end up in there ?
Apparently the draken is on long term loan with the D&G museum as duxford had no where to put her, shame they might have got a viggen and had them both together.

Received the newsletter and they look better than the ones in the Cosford shed. Can hardly see the string holding them up. As the Firefly belongs to ARCO, I think, doubt it will end up in the Duxford shed.
Found a photo of the nose of the Firefly in a photo that I took last week.

Brian
I’ll check my photos tonight when I get home from work and I stand to be corrected but for some reason 3 yellow Firefly fuselages seem to ring a bell.
Back later
Brian
Edit: I stand corrected there are only two fuselages. Now why did I think there were 3
