Certainly not. It would interfere with Evelyn Glennie’s practising

Still can’t work that one out. 😀 😀 😀

It has been stated that not all of the DLO are moving out. There will still be a presence here at Wyton. A date of 2011 has been suggested for the end of Brampton.
On the radio news this morning the Station Commander was talking about Wyton staying open and one of the things he said was that it ‘Had a long runway that can take wide bodied jets’.
We know Marshalls of Cambridge are looking for a new base!.
Brian
Slightly off topic I guess, but then, maybe not . . .
See here.
Historic aircraft connection? Almost zero except . . . what will happen to PR.9 XH170 that’s Wyton’s Gate Guard?
.
And where does it say Wyton is closing? I work at Wyton, so far.
Brampton is closing and moving to Wyton.

I was told today that it was a T28. It took off from Duxford earlier. Explains why the display was not as tight as you would expect from a Yak 50!
SEMAE
On the 24th June (Saturday), when you originally posted, both the Duxford T.28s were on the ground. I was there. The camo one in the ARC/HFL compound and the silver one in the hanger with its engine covers off.

It would be interesting to know when the people who are moaning and complaining on this forum about Duxford, last visited Duxford?.
On all the visits I have had to Duxford this year, and that is 18 times now, I have always been impressed with what I have seen, aircraft being moved around, testflights etc, and I for one am extremely grateful for what is at Duxford both from the IWM and the private companies.
Brian
As for moving the Shackleton. Have you seen the picture in the August edition of Flypast of them moving one of the Paphos Shacks.????? Lifted in one piece with great big crane.
Brian
..but then again there are people elsewhere on here who don’t like aircraft being towed, ruins their pictures apparently
I never said that Roobarb. 😀 😀 😀 besides I prefer them being towed as I can get close up and get some decent photos as I dont have a long lens 😉
Brian
there were plenty of aircraft movements during the day. Mostly behind a tractor though.
Brian
Well they are a bit heavy for us to move with our teeth and the tractors do have their own fans as well……
Someone somewhere will remember “The adventures of Terrance the Tug” 🙂
Or perhaps you were under the impression that the aircraft get moved by magic fairies between 18:00 and 10:00 when there’s no-one to capture them on camera?[/QUOTE]
What, no magic fairies at Duxford. another dream shattered. 😀 Ahh but because no one has photographed them doesn’t mean they don’t exist
What’s this about ‘The Adventures of Terence the Tug’ then? 😉 😉 😉

Without wanting to start a fight, I think that it looks quite good. It displays the aircraft in such a way that you can proberbly see more of them than the “normal” eye level view. I do agree that the traditional way of hanging aircraft just gives you a view of the belly but at different angles and levels it will give you a better view.
As for aircraft not being pieces of art, I would class them more a piece of art than an un-made bed or a pickled sheep.Rgds Cking
I basically agree with Cking but will reserve judgement untill I see it in on site. Didn’t Lightnings tend to go balistic after they took off????
Brian
Any idea where the Tigercat was heading to?
Ollie, it was just doing circuits. Took off, flew away, ten minutes later returned, landed and immediately turned around and took off in the opposit direction. Wind had changed. It went up later in the afternoon for another spin.
Nice to see the Harry Tate outside…
Not for long as it went straight into the AirSpace hanger.
Brian
The aircraft were started to be turned around at 2 o’clock and are all facing the crowd line. Apart from the Anson, I was told they would remain that way over the weekend. Well done to the IWM and the tug driver who had problems trying to push the Lanc. I will post some pictures later when I have had something to eat.
Brian 😀
Some people are never satisfied. I can’t get to Duxford to see this all first hand but I certainly got very warm fuzzies just looking at the pics posted here.
A once in a lifetime shot – fan-bloody-tastic!
Roy.
I CAN get to Duxford.
What are the Public Relations Department at Duxford for if something like this is going to take place and it is Not advertised? It’s not as if they don’t have a web site or other outlets, like Forums, to make the information available.
Brian
SUPERB 😮 😮
The next question is will it be like that over the weekend for the public to see??????
