You already have, when you joined/paid for Friends of Duxford.
But don’t have to pay extra on the day to enter the enclosure and as a ‘FOD’ we also get a 20% discount on admission, so get in a little bit cheeper. 😀
Brian
You Moggy, like myself can afford to pay for an enclosure should we chose to do so. It’s the principle of paying twice that stops me.
Andy
Does that mean I have to pay to get into ‘The Friends of Duxford’ enclosure? 😀
Brian
And I though £8 return on the bus from St Ives (the one in Cambridgeshire that is) was a bit steep 😀 . They could have used an up to date photo and only 1.5 hrs to look around when the Duxford web site gives it 5hrs for a look around. 🙂
Brian
Just a thought, but as they are putting the wings onto the York fuselage, how about it and the Lancaster for a photocall (next Friday please as I have the day off 😀 😀 ) as when was the last time those two airframes were seen together on an airfield?
Brian
Should be out over the weekend, but not long after that. This is not guaranteed however.
I was pondering wether to go down on Saturday. Mind made up now. 🙂
Brian
The BBMF Lancaster carries parachutes but I was told that they would never be used because it would never fly high enough for them to be of any use.
Would anyone offered a trip in the back seat of ‘ANY’ warbird ‘REALLY’ turn it down?. I know I wouldn’t.
Brian
Thanks OldSpitty but has anyone noticed the extra set of straps in the back of the cockpit?. A Thunderbolt built for two.
Brian
According to the Duxford press office, Sally B will be departing Duxford late morning on Saturday, presumably for Biggin, and returning Sunday afternoon.
Probably been up for an air test.
Brian
Sorry I fail to see how thats “fantstic piece of publicity!”
The UK home of the Spitfire and IWM see fit to purchase and paint a fake one? What on earth is this supposed to achieve?
I believe it is an educational tool and will be taken ‘on the road’.
Brian
‘Will it be at…..’ Nooooo best not go there.
Brian
Just check -are they airbrakes or Dive brakes? 🙂
This photo is taken from an article by John Perrott called ‘Airborne in the Balliol’ in Aeroplane Monthly, March 1982. I assume it is dive brake on the upper wing and airbrake on the lower wing.

Can’t really answer your question but hope this helps and looking at the photos it does appear as if they split top and bottom. Balliol at Cosford.

The link was not working for me.
Ollie, it is still working for me but this is the link http://www.bywat.co.uk/wk163.html
