For the record the other Firefly was not “extensively spares recovered”. There really was very little material that was of any great use

A couple of weeks since my last visit to Duxford so a bit of catch up for me with a bit of a shuffle around in 5 hangar with the T-33 and F-100D receiving a bit of attention and the He162A all on its own in the spray bay. In hangar 2/North, the east end had been cleared for the motorbikes auction on Tuesday as part of the H&H car auctions that were taking place in AirSpace and the west end of 2 hangar was a bit packed with war birds. Outside, B-17/Sally-B had its wingtips clipped ready to go into hangar 2 for winter maintenance and the Catalina was towed out onto the airfield for a final engine run of the year before it goes inside for the winter. Outside AirSpace, as the inside was being cleared of the auction paraphernalia, Lot 64 a 1931 Cadillac 370-A V12 Coupe caught my eye more for the bullet riddled front windscreen than any thing else.

No. Just right place at the right time. 😀

Mike, T-28 blades if I’m not mistaken.
Talking of the T.28 😉

It’s last flight over Duxford could be today, Sunday 4th Oct, as it’s down on the route map after appearing at Old Warden at 16.15.

A very quiet day at Duxford and a very sad highlight of the day this afternoon as a Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Sea King helicopter did a very slow east to west flypast, as part of a fleeting visit to local airfields, before turning south as part of its final flight to the scrap yard, or HMS Sultan in Gosport as I believe it’s called. Not sure who was photographing whom though. The ARCo two seat Spitfire was taking part with ‘Taz’ in a bit of a photo shoot.

Still in the Bomber Command Hall when I was there last week, with the Chipmunk opposite. 😀

Re the Vimy, I must have been mistaken then. Above my head I saw a large wingspan aircraft with two pairs of wheels like the Vimy.
The only ‘large’ aircraft hanging from the rafters is the Fe.2b

I had a couple of hours there today and since my last visit the dumping ground by the Buccaneer has been tidied up and cleared and couldn’t see any fences around it or the Tornado. I find the staff quite interactive but I usually pique their interest as I use silent shutter on my camera so they see me going through the motions of taking a photo but they don’t hear the shutter slap of taking a photo.

I’ve got 1800 photos from the weekend. Do you really want to play this game?
