Despite the visitor queue snaking around the corner first thing and still queuing to get in at mid-day, it was a quiet Saturday at Duxford. Classic Wings were having one of their ‘Fly With A Spitfire’ events and I though a nice looking 1946 Luscombe 8F Silvaire would be the GA visitor of the day but it was out trumped a little bit later when an even nicer looking 1952 built Cessna 195 Businessliner arrived.

Problem with magazine reviewer’s is that if it isn’t made by Canon/Nikon then it isn’t any good. Best review’s for any lens I find are on Bird spotting forums.
On Saturday I was using manual settings and zooming, on Sunday I used Shutter Priority and kept the lens at 600mm just for something different. The Sea King/B-17/Fury are at 600mm and at f6.3 had to be sharpened a bit. The Tamron is at its best at f8 to f11 and with the sun shining, f11 is very sharp.
It isn’t an exceptional lens which is reflected in the price, if it was then it would cost two maybe three times more than it does. The more I use it though the more I’m impressed with the picture quality I can get from it.
I did an initial review of the lens when I first got it last year and I’ll be updating the page below at the end of the 2015 air show season. 😀

Handheld, I’m used to the weight now. 😀

Pen Pusher would seem to get his word from a different street to you Duxman!
And I was told about it as I was leaving Duxford and that piece of info about Sywell originally came to me, second hand, from info Duxman supplied and I also saw it mentioned on UKAR as well.
Brian
Will Pen Pusher be first in the queue as usual?
No, I’ve got other things to do.
Brian
Duxford was busy with lots of visitors today and there was enough variety, flying wise, to keep the Duxford Snaparazzi happy. 😀

Brian
Word on the street is an Lockheed Electra 10A is/was being plotted on on Flightradar24 flying from Wick to Prague and on its way into Duxford and it will be at Aero Expo at Sywell next weekend

The Aerostars were first up today but they went off to the north to practice together as a team but they did display over the airfield in the afternoon. The Blenheim was next up, for the benefit of another film crew, and the best display routine from it yet. TFC were out to play with flying and engine runs. The Hawk-75 flew several test flights with some aerobatics thrown in along with the Mk.V Spitfire and the Staggerwing. The British Antarctic Survey Twin Otter went walk about for an hour or so and touched down on the grass on its return and after a crew change went off again and the Sharkmouth Mustang was doing lots of training flights during the afternoon. The Grace Spitfire was flying as well and a Royal Navy Lynx dropped in for a spot of fuel and just before I left a Danish registered Chipmunk arrived and I think is parked up overnight. Photos in the order they were taken.

Brian
And where would you park the display aircraft?
