I’ll be at work, using the term ‘work’ very loosely now, wandering around places I’ve never been to or had any dealings with getting signatures for my get out of Wyton/Civil Service/MOD chit. 😀

I wonder where it could be heading. Mmmm :diablo::D

I go to an air show because it’s an air show. Not because of what will or will not be there.
I go on night photo shoots because they are at night. Not because of what will or will not be there to photograph in the dark.
I go to a museum because it’s a museum. Not because of what is or isn’t on display there.
Am I in the minority here? 😀

Mr Grey took his Bearcat for a spin first thing, lighting conditions at the time wasn’t ideal, and the Bearcat was still sitting out on the airfield when I left at three. In the afternoon ‘Sally-B’ fired up and headed out towards Norwich airport where it’s based over the weekend for the Lowestoft air show. Apart from a few GA visitors and a Sikorsky S-76B that came in twice for fuel the Red Bull Matadors also dropped in but didn’t display and an Antonov AN-2 made a brief appearance on it’s way to an air show. As I was sitting at Whittlesford Station waiting for the train, a two seat Spitfire flew over but I couldn’t make out who it belonged to but me thinks it might be the Grace one.

Winding up the elastic.

Today just one Shackleton and fewer than 60 Spitfires originally fitted with one of these engines are still flying anywhere in the world.
There’s a Shackleton and less than 60 Griffon powered Spitfires still flying 😮 Where?
Good ole Maily Dail 😀

A Yale & Harvard and the Harvard replacement, T-28 Trojan/Fennec, in one hangar 😀

Stu Goldspink took ‘Snafu’ up for a bit of an airing in the rather blustery/windy, but warm with it, conditions late this afternoon. As per normal with war birds, it was a bit of an air test to the north of the airfield before returning for a bit of aerobatics. Stu came in to land on the grass strip and rolled to a stop and parked up and the aircraft was towed back to the hangar. I’ve been informed it was shut down only as a precautionary measure for a minor tech issue which has since been resolved.

Roll on Legends.

Will it be at……..
Well someone had to be first.
Hat, coat, gone. 😀

The Jubilee Show could be considered to have been a show full of ‘stocking fillers’, with the variety of aircraft that were in it, and I thoroughly enjoyed that one.

According to this month’s Flypast (or is it the other one?) the Ambassador is to be moved outside to make room for other projects.
Already outside and has been for several weeks.
Brian
Is that it? No Avenger? No CASA 111?
It would appear the aircraft listed were offered to other museums but were obviously turned down so put up for sale on the open market. How do you know the Avenger or CASA weren’t put up for disposal and haven’t already been snapped up by other museums and therefore not up for sale?.

Just for a different perspective, I was waving my camera around on the end of my monopod. Forgotten how heavy the A580 was. I left the camera on AUTO so it could sort out all the settings.

Ram raiders targeted Duxford’s Imperial War Museum in a botched bid to steal a cash machine.
The balaclava-clad trio smashed a stolen four-wheel drive into the visitor centre in the early hours of today, shattering the glass frontage, but left empty-handed.
Police said the raid happened at 1.40am and involved a red Land Rover which had been taken from Cambridge on Sunday.
The cash machine and the vehicle were left at the scene, and three men, all of whom were clad in black and were wearing balaclavas, made off towards Royston in another stolen car, believed to be an Alfa Romeo.
The museum confirmed the visitor centre had been damaged but the attraction was open to the public as normal.
Det Sgt Sarah Gaylor, who is investigating, said: “I would urge anyone who saw either of these vehicles prior to the raid, or the Alfa Romeo afterwards, to call police.
“I have a team of officers investigating this incident and CCTV is being reviewed to try and find the offenders who did this.
“Forensic examinations are taking place at the visitor centre and on the vehicle, but I am keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area leading up to the incident.”
Police said it was too early to say if the break-in was linked to other ram raids in the area in recent months.
A gang used a Subaru Forrester to help rip a cash machine out of Papworth Everard post office on May 18, while more than £10,000 was stolen when a cash machine was stolen from Addenbrooke’s Hospital on March 9, in an attack which used a Mitsubishi Shogun.
A museum spokeswoman said: “IWM Duxford can confirm a break-in occurred at the museum’s visitor centre in the early hours of Wednesday.
“Using a stolen 4×4, offenders damaged the front of the visitor centre before making off in a second stolen vehicle.
“No members of staff were involved and despite some damage to the building, nothing was stolen.
“Cambridgeshire Constabulary attended the scene and an investigation is now under way.
“IWM Duxford is open as normal, with entry to the museum via the visitor car park, as usual.”
Anyone with any information should call Det Sgt Gaylor on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
A few quick edits of the new boys at Duxford. The Cartouche Dore routine looked quite good but think it could of done with trailing a bit of smoke at times to enhance some of the moves.
