Can someone please give me more of an idea what’s on the DVD please?
Hello the DVD includes.
Deconstructing Design Icons takes an authoritative and detailed look at the birth of a legend; The Spitfire. Featuring an in depth look at the plane, its war record and career beyond Britain’s shores this DVD includes unique footage of a restored Spitfire in action, technical details of the aircraft as it evolved over 12 years and interviews with restorers, operators and pilots of these wonderful machines.
It was 1981 and it was G-BOAC, remember well as it was the last vulcan scramble at finningley,
oh those were the days!
Thanks
I am sure that was the year I went 🙂
Hello
Can anybody remember when Concorde came to RAF Finningley? (Battle of Britain air show)
I was there but cannot remember the year (was early 80’s)
Regards
Hello
I Think it was around 1981 as I did not have a driving licence then! It may have been the first time it had landed at Finningly? I do not remember it comming back year after year? But I could be wrong………….
Hello
Could you take some photographs of the Mk1 spifire X4590. As my father was responsible for movig it from RAF Henlow for display at RAF Finningly in the mid 70’s.
Any pictures of the spitfire would be good.
Regards
I Think the 2 Seater Spits arn’t requested, because they are not the correct wartime external configeration. ie two seaters, modified after the war, the mustangs may be two seaters but don’t have two seperate canopies etc……………..
Hello
Do you have any pictures of the recovery? that you can post.
Regards
Hello
Slightly off topic. Does anybody remember a 1970’s childrens program about a swiss helicopter rescue series, set in the alps……………….
I remember it had some catchy theme tune?

Hello
Yes I purchased “Fighting the Blue” Double disc DVD recently and on Disc 2 is a Documentary on the restoration of BLACK 6.
Hope this helps 🙂
Having watched the BLACK 6 section.
It gives a in depth look at the 22 years it took for restoration and the complex life BLACK 6 had.
All in all probably worth buying the DVD’s just for this……………….
Thats a tragedy to the historic aviation world, my sincere Condolences to his family
Contacted them yesterday, said that they had about 30 hours of out-takes and could put most onto 3 DVD’s for about £100.
RE: Norton Airfield (Sheffield)
I Believe that it was netherthorpe, does anybody have any details, about what flew from there during the war?
