Did someone on here not so long ago say something about polishing a turd! . Maybe we should build aircraft from furniture.:dev2:
Please see post 14 of this link. http://www.homebuiltairplanes.com/forums/warbirds-warbird-replicas/11821-scaled-down-westland-whirlwind.html
Does this picture show an existing whirlwind cockpit section?, if so where and when, and is it a replica??
I think that wheel is a Hunter nose wheel. Not so sure about the pack though. Maybe Victor or Vulcan drogue chute pack??
I remember him, but can’t give you a name. I bought quite a bit of inert ammo and magazines/ clips for my deactivated ww2 gun collection at a DX event in 2002 from him. His stuff was really good value compared to some at the time. Inert ammo and associated items can be found in abundance from many internet militaria vendors if that is what you’re after. Try specialist auctions, loads of stuff on there.
Did the turret that was evident at the site go to a museum? regards Scott.
Spotted vintage radial twin between clouds over Congleton Cheshire. Silver in colour about 10,000ft flying IFR. Dc3? any ideas?
Manston F4-J UK??
I think some were flown into Raf Shawbury, then roaded to Cosford e.g The Victor and Nimrod. The Vulcan was flown in directly but got bogged down whilst exiting the runway.
Hi John, excellent!. Any use to the project? Maybe as a pattern?. If so let me know and I’ll send it your way. Regards, Scott.
Hi John
Here is the pulley, or 1/2 of it anyway.Numbers are 488295 and 400023? and a script of SKEFI???. The pulley would have a diameter of 4 inches. I also have this steel piece with what looks like a tap and a wooden blanking plug with traces of cockpit green. Any ideas ?. Regards, Scott.
No problem Daniel. I’m amazed at what remains of the aircraft. Sorry for the poor spelling. Should read Stirling;)
The rifles are all sectioned training rifles, hence the cut barrels, skeletonised magazines and red paint. Absolutely no use as a firearm, but still very collectable and still very bad news if you got caught pinching anything from there.
Just a naive question by myself for those in the know. Would those prop blades be bent further back if the aircraft did crash land on a sand bar, or vice versa for a water ditching?
Fairey Firefly in Tremadog Bay North Wales. Ex Llanbedr drone i think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbb1XZ1UdXY
