Hi John
It’s of the main bomb bay in fact, haven’t got around to the wings yet! Here’s a more general view!

One day you will be able to do that for real!

Hi Air Ministry
Any chance of a pic of the data plate so that I can reproduce it? Perhaps rub some black earth to pick out the letters and line? A nice perpendicular shot would allow me to get the proportions correct. My bomb bay model lacks any ‘character’.

Hi
Project on this part now complete – the electronics is now back in the box. Moving onto the main receiver, could be a while!
The monochrome image is from a 1938 A.P.

Hi
That is a Link trainer, I assume he means that it is the LInk Trainer at the de Havilland Museum. There were many many variants and they were built under license in many places. The first were very basic but still had many different layouts. As aircraft got more complex so did the trainers and again many variants. That certainly isn’t a 1930s version.
I think that I read that the first Link ‘aircraft’ was a fairground attraction, if so the idea wasn’t even based in real aviation!

Hi
I do have an R1082, but I’m planning on restoring it to working condition. I don’t think that it a flight version either. I’m also in the market for a T1083!

Hi Andy
(Edit – Andy, just seen how old you post is, your probably fixed up by now!)
In AP 1095 there is a section on Bomb Release Gear including the arming units and a 4 pole selector switch box. Possibly my copy isn’t new enough to have the 16/32 way selector in or the 16 way panels as it’s dated June 1935 but I suspect later versions would cover what you wanted.
The circuit diagrams of the bomber should have all the wiring in anyway, the Stirling circuits have the wiring of the 16 way and the later 32 way distributor and bomb release panel.
Found this – not what you want but derived from AP 1095 apparently and some interesting stuff in it.

Hi John
Hope the virius is passing you by.
That is a great video and also answers my question about the lettering – it is all on engraved panels. So I’ve checked mine and it is engraved too, but all one big panel. The only question now is what sort of paints are the black and the white and how did he clear the excess paint off?
Sorry – don’t mean to divert the thread!

Hi Aircraft
Do let me know if you have downloaded it OK
James
Hi Aircraft
Got your PM but just posting here in case my reply doesn’t reach you! Basically, I’ll need your email address.

Hi John
Without actually voulenteering anyone, you might find just the right sort of cove to get the radio going over at the UK Vintage Radio Repair web site.
I have the earlier radio used on early Stirlings which is in the queue of ‘things to do’ but that restoration looks really good – any chance of a contact with the restorer? I just want to know the ‘how’ on the metalwork really – I can do the radio part myself.
Cheers

Hi Aircraft
If I am the James you were referring to I haven’t had a PM, and come to that I thought that I had written this same post a while ago? It must be this new improved, ‘if it doesn’t work then it can’t go wrong’ forum software!
It’s still telling me that I have an unread mail which in fact I answered about a week ago!
James
But on this shot only 2 hinges and two handles – This implies that this aircraft could not be fitted with an astrodome? The pics are early MKIs I think – seems odd that the astrodome wasn’t in every variant?
Also shown is the key and a pic showing the flap that a key would have been stowed under.
Hmm and looking again at the pics of the find it looks like the square key shaft is the same as the handle shaft
James
And now an interesting oddity – this is one shot of the astro hatch – note that there are 4 handles and hinges
Ah – here is a pic of the mid upper escape hatch – the handles look right but I suspect that they are the same as for the astro dome hatch too
James
Hi John
There are at least two triangular flaps with keys under. I’m home now so have access to pictures – on this one you can see the locations for the square key to be inserted.
