Well, the F-35 will be able to carry 14-16 AAMs. How many can the EF carry and at what range?
do we need to post a link to the f-35 being a cruise/bal missile interceptor and sam killer ?
i’ve seen it stated and a simple google will tell, but i cant be bothered, they must think the ‘system’ is broken and the f-35 advanced ew and radar is just to weigh down the nose, but i’m sure they will state their favorite plane can.. as obligatory did LOL
Not entirely impossible, GR4 will get replaced around then, unless the RAF opts for an all UAV force they’ll be after something and the F35 is the most likely candidate, unless somebody is offering something much better (Boeing 6th Gen?)
i’m going the phoon will replace the gr4 as a day2 with an engine mod to give better acceleration and drop the SC and an order of f-35a as day 1
I would love to take that wager (If you mean what I think you mean).
To paraphrase – Do you mean the RAF will operate the JSF as the Hi end of a High Low mix with the Typhoon being the Low end even for air defence???
If thats so then I wager a decent bottle of rum.:)But I fear that if the UK doesn’t buy it as you fortell, then you may still interpret it as a successful sale and a bet won due to some twisted logic….
You must admit that your definitions of successful/doing well/affordable are somewhat different to the norm.
Cheers
yep, thats what i said, its a shame cola isnt as sharp as you
the phoon will become a day 2 striker or a drone controller at best with tranch 3a as the last order
uk will get f-35a as a2a about 2020-25 as day 1 asset to go with the f-35b
we could put the money in the f-35 shares on the stock market
F-35 pilots get fitted for flight which will start delivery this year
http://www.fox10tv.com/dpp/news/f-35-pilots-get-fitted-for-flight#
I’m willing to place a wager against that 🙂
ok, the funds will have to be held by a solicitor with instructions on division of funds or are we playing for match sticks :diablo:
Jackjack, do you have ANY idea of what you just said here?? 😀
paraphrase what i said and i’ll see if you have the right end of the stick
ps Jwcook, would you like to place a wager that the typhoon becomes a day 2 striker and the uk buys f-35a in the 2020-5 period as day 1 and a2a as they have for the navy with the f-35b
International partner versions Hmmm. how best explain that they can be 100% the same, but still different.
Lets say you bought a house exactly the same as your neighbour, but your neighbour has the keys to the locked two back rooms and you are not allowed to have those keys in your possession, or even look into the windows of those rooms.
The houses are exactly the same, you just can’t access them ‘at will’ in the same way.
Now Imaging you have a very pretty nymphomaniac gymnastic student turn up with a desperate need of a room.
Both you and your neighbour want her to stay in their respective houses, do you think you could trust your neighbour to ‘find’ the spare keys in time, or do you think he might just use it to his advantage.
Now imagine your neighbour isn’t known for his alturistic personality and has spent $2 billion on making sure you don’t get the keys.
Now apply that to the JSF, The only difference is who’s going to get screwed.:D
Cheers
i’m sure it would of been posted here, but lets use microsoft as an example, no one gets the full windows code, developers get the code to add their software the op sys
uk seems satisfied with their code access
http://www.strategypage.com/militaryforums/6-68778.aspx
and not to put too fine a point on it, DSTO are currently involved with JSF development for australian e-reqs (funnier when you factor in all the hype that the US won’t provide “source code” and yet we (and the danes and the norwegians) are happily developing national specific “systems” with the full blessing of the US…..)
go figure.
now, are you willing to accept, the partner nations have the access they need ?
are you also willing to accept the partner nations get the same plane as the usa, as per links posted here stating this from the pentagon
you are trolling nonsense and its getting silly, is it because australia and turkey and the list will be long of who also reject your favorite plane for the f-35 ?
International partner versions??? 😉
according to you, isnt the international version 95% wrong and 5% right 😀
even though it has been stated all are the same
No need to complaint — the real news is worse than you would expect:
IOC delayed to 2015… pcfem and Spudmanwp where are you?
Sweetman says: “naysayers 1 JSF program 0”. Irritating, isn’t it?
seems like they are playing it safe by allowing 2 years to IOC instead of the 1 yr extension, not a silly move
So you only trust the newsreports you agree with?
no, i actually agree with the article contents in general,
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/politics/scientists-warned-defence-department-against-joint-strike-fighter/story-e6frgczf-1225834053074
“The study favours the JSF over other options and is blunt about the shortcomings of Australia’s other fighter options”
i was simply saying we dont have all of the information to form a sound conclusion, as the report would of been comprehensive, giving pros and cons of each craft and how they would or wouldnt fit into australia’s plan
You instead read the 1000 pages to inform yourself, right? Or does your newspaper actually give you the full report rather than an actual article? Because in the latter case, I can start teaching journalism in your neck of the woods.
But on the other hand, with you saying it’s “probably a 1000 page report” I somehow don’t think you’ve read it either, or have you?
if you read the article, you would know that it isnt available
the article could of used a few positive sentences on the planes in the report and written a completely different article, it depends on the writers goals
please don’t take this the wrong way, but I don’t think its the case that the F35 is being cancelled. I seem to be on my own here.
If you look at the overall reliance on the F35 that the UK Government is putting in its plans for the RAF, its a certainty that they will procure it.
Putting that to one side, how on earth can it make sense to buy a half developed indian light fighter for which BAE has no input?
you are right of course and the f-35 buy has been announced, but you cant dispel the school boy fantasies here
what I find funny is that, basically, that “study” trashes every aircraft it talks of, and in such affirmative terms, while talking about a purchase that would have its deliveries over 10 years later (study in 2000 and deliveries not anticipated before the 2012 at best at the time)
you will probably find its a 1000 page report that the news paper picked 10 sentences to form its story
