i dont think anything would satisfy you LOL
shall we start with the rafale ?

DASSAULT & PARTNERS SIGN AIR 6000 MoU: The Commonwealth Government, Dassault Aviation, Thales Systemes Aeroportes SA., and ADI Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for extensive cooperation for the RAAF Air 6000 Project, to replace the F-18s and later the F-111s. Bruno Stoufflet, Vice-President Strategic R&T for Dassault said, “It will allow us to share our respective strong experience in the field of operational simulation…It will also allow Dassault Aviation and its partners to tailor a better offer, centred on the Rafale extended multirole combat aircraft, and to meet the RAAF Air 6000 operational requirements in an optimised way.” [19.02.01]
…air6000 was cut short”
So a full “evaluation” there..
as i have said air6000 was 75% completed
“…several thousand pages,..”
Of data from whom? Validated how? 😉
from uk gov, bae for the typhoon and the other participants on their planes
“…flown the typhoon…” “…probably have…”
Good solid facts there, oh no none. Also since when has a serving line exchange pilot been the best placed to fully evaluate an aircraft for the role required by their home airforce? They will be flying RAF missions, doing RAF training, not Aussie. Sure they can form an opinion but to try and state that this somehow is, or makes up for the lack of a full evaluation is laughable.
Secondly why is this “fact” relevant to the evaluation or no evaluation discussion at all?
Either there was one or there wasn’t, the truth is there wasn’t.
as i have said, i was told we flew the proposed aircraft, we didnt have flight testing in australia that i know of
we ran air6000 for 3 years before a decision was made for the f-35 and air6000 was cut short
we were given the “true” specs of the aircraft for evaluation and this is several thousand pages, not the public nonsense
we have flown the typhoon, heck we probably have an exchange pilot there now, like we do flying the f-22
did you miss this bit ?
“we are more interested with the final outcome being right and are looking at 2018-20” for our first squadron
you guys are acting like this is the first time you have been told the typhoon was evaluated by australia
hostile ? just annoyed at the aussie trolling
i’m amused by those that think a dozen leading governments are stupid
i’m saying the f-35 was deemed the best aircraft for australia and numerous aircrafts were evaluated
we have allowed for delays and the latest isnt considered a tragedy,
“”The Australian Government has welcomed the decisive action taken by the US Government to reduce risk in the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program, according to Defence Minister Senator John Faulkner””
http://www.australiandefence.com.au/index.cfm?objectid=A6BCB6E8-1767-11DF-9580005056B05D57
we are more interested with the final outcome being right and are looking at 2018-20, with 24 sh as a stopgap with the retirement of the f111,
ps
i have removed the site reference, i should have done it by PM
thanks for pointing that out, dassault wont get the codes for the “slammer” either
i’m talking the 2 yr delay mid 2000’s when the fa-18f decision was made
the 3 to 14 isnt to do with the fa-18 that i have heard of
They decided to skip on the test aircraft and go straight to the OT&E fighters. Two separate functions.
The Super Hornets were not bought (in Dec 2006) for a measly 2 year delay, but due to the knowledge that the F-111s would be retired before the F-35 squadrons would be ready.
ok, i agree that the two were combined
we signed the f-35 in 2003 the last gov put into effect the retirement of f111 for 2010
then the 2 yr delay in all the f-35, so we then decided to get sh for that delay and incase there were more,
there was always going to a gap between the f111 and f-35, but it was getting bigger, so we played it safe
SpudmanWP, thats the test aircraft i refered to in a post above, was to be 3, now 14
and the 2 year delay was the reason we got 24 sh/growlers
The then Australian defence minister Robert Hill seems to be calling you a liar.
cheers
i was told we flew them in the evaluation and if you want to claim that we didnt properly evaluate them to the 75% of work done, you will need better than an article, a .gov.au link would be ok
or we can shift this debate over to defense talk where a couple of members were involved in air6000
they did not plan on delivery till 2018 – 2020. How has this changed?
thats still the same, what did change was that we were to get 3 test aircraft, this has changed to 14, so if anything we are even more committed that the f-35 is the best for us
air6000 was from 1999, it wasnt a 5min job and a power point as my fellow aussie would have you believe
here is a summery
http://www.defence.gov.au/dmo/ceo/record/cacc.pdf
The air6000 was curtailed, there was no competition, LM’s Powerpoint presentation won. the winner being the US$35m, US version, to be delivered in 2010.
That’s what we signed up for, since then we discover we have a ‘export’ version, its tracking for >US100m, and its delivery is 2018.
You can add the A$6 Billion for the f18’s to cover this gap to the final cost too.
So you go celebrate that, I shall sit back and watch the show with a big ‘I told you so’ grin..:)
One has to wonder how the Air 6000 “assessment” was weighted, cost? risk? capability?, delivery?. LOL I’d love to see the scores.
Cheers
you’re just trolling or is it that you dont have a clue ?
air6000 was 75% complete and we had all specs and test flew, it was assessed the rafale, gripen, typhoon, f-15, f-18ef didnt measure up to the f-35 for our requirement and so it was chosen
if you have any fantasies that australia didnt properly evaluate the typhoon including the secret squirrel stuff, give them up
there was a delay early to mid 2000’s for 2 years so we got the f-18f to gap fill to retire the f111, an “all inclusive” 6 bil minus resell price for 12 sh and 12 sh growlers is a bargain for 15 yrs,
only a fanboy would consider the typhoon superior in a2a than the f-35 and you would say the opposite
australia has already assessed the typhoon in air6000 and it didnt meet our requirement for a2a or strike
france wouldnt be given access to the slammer, it would be a uae/usa agreement and instalation
ok, that explains it, youre an aussie who’s a typhoon fan
as to your f-35 is replaceable by ucav, going with your claim, the typhoon would be even more replaceable
