Yep, SG-1 does indeed rule 🙂 ( how good is season 9 and SG:A, if someone has already seen it ? ) But it is a more action-oriented show, not that there is anything wrong with that, while Star Wars and B5 are deeper and more rfullfilling, at least IMO.

I also quite liked BSG ( the new one, the old was 😮 😮 ), but I can’t stand Star Trek, especially the more recent stuff.

Regarding the link that you put, well it’s always the same thing. There’s nothing ground-breaking in it ( and the article later aknowledges that, when it differenciates between phase and group velocity), but it uses a bombastic title to attract attention. Just like the supposed revival of cold fusion months ago 😉

According to yahoo news, the rockets were Katyusha’s. Not exactly precision stuff 😉

    Great signature, Spectral!

    😉

Those who think that Blackbird is a stealth aircraft simply do not know anything about stealth design.

People aren’t saying that it is a stealth aircraft, they are saying that it has RCS reduction measures…

entropy concepts are widely used in aerodynamics, determining the energy relation in the gases, the gas behavior, etc.. under expansion or compression, look im not here to be the “wised” and “smarter” guy, only to try to start a more scientific debate, nothing more

Well by all means, take it as scientific as posssible. Aerodynamics isn’t my area, but I’m always ready to learn more.

i know that again im discussing with guys with 20 sr71 pop-books, or 40 posters or 200 pics of the blackbird, so what can i do???

Now, that is a lame excuse for walking way. ( and BTW, I only have jay miller’s “skunk works” on the blackbird 😉 )

what you want, to start to say “entropic relation on fluid dynamics” or “reinolds number”, hell no body would understand me…

I’m sure some people would ( at least I do, in part).

Now I’m familiar with Reynolds number, but what do you mean by “entropic relation on fluid dynamics” ??? Entropy is not to be used lightly…

    Sounds interesting…

But, what’s your source on this ?

The Phalcon and Nimrod AEW sure are in a top spot…

And the LCA definitely needs a paint scheme instead of that white one.

At least imho of course 😉

And what about the Yak-130 ?? It’s future seems more certain than the almost defunct Mako 😉 It would also be a contender for the “best” title ( which I think should go to A-50, maybe)

The problem I see with some of those planes on the list, like the Hawk 200 / AMX / A/T-50, is that their price should be around 20 mil $ or more…

Fo that ammount of money you can get na F-16A + MLU or similar .

This I don’t deny, I’m no expert on dassault, but if you are more knowledgeable, please enlighten us. Obviously you have quoted me out of context – my comment was only in reply to INdian1973’s comment about the French not being very flexible in modifying their mirages (post # 19). So if you think the French/Dassault is v.flexible, please take it up with him. Obviously (from the experience with the SU30MKI) the Russians don’t have too many hangups in customizing a/c.

As an example, check the history of the Mirage III.

I’d advice people to stay away from Tom Clancy’s novels ,apart from ‘Red Storm Rising’ which is readable.

Funny, everybody says that about Tom Clancy. Just read “Red Storm Rising” and found it to be pretty enjoyable.

BTW, check out this review on one of his books, “The Bear and Dragon” :

didn’t the South African Airforce try something with MiG29 engines on Mirages?

It was on a Mirage F1 IIRC, which is quite a different aircraft from a M2K 😉

“C”s got RAM treatment back in 1992, long before “E/F” ever flew. Got to see treated “C”s at Lemoore before they did workups for a Lincoln deployment. They were having problems similar to the F-117 at the time.

djcross, do you know if the export C models ( swiss and finnish ) have received the same treatment ? Just curious.

Kelly Johnson said that Blackbird was stealth aircraft with one of the lowest RCS in inventory, yet he said also that there had been a thousand of SAM launches against it.

    That statements contradict each other.

If it has so low RCS, how it is so visible on radars, to provoke launch of so many radar guided missiles ?

It seems that Johnson”s statements are not entirely sincere and true.

He said about a thousand missiles, but keep in mind that he was designer of Blackbird.

Why don’t you read other people’s posts, like SOC’s or aerospacetech’s ? There you’ll find the answers for your questions…

Do you have a cite for that? 1. Ben Rich said Aurora funding was for the B-2. 2. Why would the military fund an airliner?

I think there was something like this on “Hunt for Zero Point” by Nick Cook.
