Well, the dutch Enforcer series of LPDs, already pretty popular ( in service in the Netherlands, Spain and UK, and in future in Portugal), have an option for an LPH. It looks quite nice.

    Check out at :

I have that same pic saved on my pc under the name “Sea Arrow”. I think I remember vaguely that it was a french ( or british? ) proposal some years ago.

Maybe Jonesy might know more ?

Spaniard EF-18ยดs are compatible with AMRAAM, altough they are EF-18A/B+ (more or less a C/D) the missiles are integrated and fired.

The same with Australian Hornets I believe.

Just as the EF and Rafale, it is said to have had some RCS-reduction measures, but that’s it.

How much internal fuel does the Typhoon carry? I’m pretty sure the Superbug carries much more.

    EDIT:

    Typhoon = ~4000kg
    F-18E/F = ~7000kg

I’ve seen ~5000kg for the Typhoon and ~6600 for the SH, but it seems you’re forgeting the most important; that range depends on a whole lot of factors other than simple weight of internal fuel like engine efficiency, drag of the aircraft plus pylons plus stores, flying regimes ( lo-lo-lo will consumme a lot more fuel that hi-hi-hi for example), …

So it’s not as simple as you make it…

    The F-16s with CFTs :dev2:

The Mil Mi-28 Havoc is also quite ugly, but it has that menacing, frightening look about it that makes it kind of cool…

    The F/A-18E/F ( bahhh, such moronic designation ๐Ÿ˜› ) “stealthy” ?

    Nahhh

(Not that that the Tyhpoon would be much stealthy either)

And, as far as I know, the ranges of the Typhoon and Sewer ( oops, sorry, Super) Hornet are pretty much similar. If there is some adavantage here to one of them, I’d say it lies in a high alititude regime to the EF.

In the late 70s Portugal was interested in the F-5E, but instead bought A-7s.

This is not a picture of an F-5 in FAP colours ( :D) but it shows how official that “interest” got: its camouflage scheme was published in the “Diรกrio da Republica” ( the official organ of the government, where laws are published):

By the way is the Type 23 the same type of warship that was featured in the James Bond movie “Tomorrow Never Dies”?

Yep. ( Though in those days there were’n Harpoons capable of attacking land targets ๐Ÿ˜€ )

Could somebody tell me the status of the Su-30MKI ?

I mean, how many of them have already been delivered, and to what specifications ( already with TVC, fully developed radar, etc).

I find pretty much information about Su-30Ks and photos of both MKI prototypes flying, but don’t know about actual production machines.

    Thanks

The original Pumas have been involved in a LOT of wars… Probably the follow-up Super-Puma/Cougar too…

Not sure of the Dauphin though.

IIRC, the Rafale, F-18E/F, F-16 block 60 and Su-30 were also in the list.

Anyway, a decision is only to be made this year.
