There was an entire thread at ACIG about UFO encounters by fighter/civil pilots………Had some quite interesting stuff……..
Someone care to dig it up…?
I had it bookmarked 😉

Talking about the american system, it just scored another failure. This is indeed a problematic program
it was a Russian mathematician (sorry forgot the man’s name) who invented RCS and stealth.
It was Pyotr Ufimtsev, in the 60’s. He didn’t “invent” anything, he just developed/refined a set of mathematical formulae by XIX century great physicist James Calrk Maxwell that predicted the manner in which a given geometric configuration would scatter/reflect electromagnetic radiation.
During Lockeed’s Have Blue project in the late 70s, these equations were used for the fist time (at least that we know of 😎 ).

Do you have more details about that JASSM-ER jamming version ?
You still haven’t answered his question
No Blackat, the USSR Black Sea fleet could (and did) transit easily to the Mediterranean, including their carriers. Technically they were classified as Cruisers (Aircraftt Carrier Cruisers to be more precise) 😉
Of course, in a time of war, and being Turkey in NATO, the straits would be closed to them,
a deal which was done during that period which mentioned that NATO wud be disbanded.
I’m curious about this. Any source on it?
Also look out in the future for modifying the 1934 or 1936 or 1939 (which one?, i am confused) treaty which bars the entry of carriers into Black Sea area … where by American carrier cud sneek in there for the Georgian $astard and for the OIL thats flows throw that area.
Here it is: Montreux Agreement, 1936

It is a bit confuse (and outdated 😉 ), but it does not refer explicitly to a ban on carrier’s passage through the straits.
The Rafale seems to have a better radar than the Typhoon. They have similar payload, similar # of hardpoints, similar range and etc, however I seem to like Typhoon’s weapons somewhat. I really like the Meteor much more than the much shorter ranged MICA, and I really like Brimstone and a few others.
Why do you keep saying that the Rafale won’t get the Meteor ?

It’s such a shame that due to politics Europe developed two aircraft of very similar characteristics, wasting a lot of money in the process (and lagging behind the US)…
Here you go :
Snapper S2 39S, N39 39 14-Jun-35 HMDY Chatham 12-Feb-41 War Loss
Portsmouth 1935, Med 36-39. Home 1939. 12-Apr-40. Sank Moonsund by gunfire in the Skagerrak. 14-Apr-40. Sank the minesweepers, Behrens and C Jansen in the Kattegat, and possibly damaged a merchant vessel of 7,500 tons in the Skagerrak. 3-Jul-40. Sank the merchant ship Cygnus, 1,300 tons. 29-Jan-41. Sailed from the Clyde on her thirteenth patrol to an area off Ushant, Bay of Biscay, commanded for the first time by Lt Prowse, in lieu of Lt Commander King DSO, her usual CO, who was in hospital. Left her escort at Land’s End, but not heard from again and failed to rendezvous on 12-Feb. Possibly went down in German minefield, though a submarine attacked the German minesweepers M2, M13 and M25 on the night of the 10/11th Feb in the area where she might have been, and was subjected to a counter-attack in which 56 depth charges were dropped. She did not return to base – no signals were acknowledged after this date. This attack is the most likely cause of her loss. There were no survivors.
Thanks pal 😉
What is the current standard of the dutch P-3s ? Portugal’s intentions appears to be to further upgrade them ( our P-3Ps, P-3C-update II equivalent- were going to bem modernised, but it was found that the dutch birds had much more life left).
According to portuguese newspapers, the deal will be made by about 70 million €, plus 150 million € in the modernisation program.
BTW, there are also some rumors that Portugal might be interested in some surplus dutch AH-64s. Is it true that some of them have been put in storage ?
I remenber reading “Cruel Sea”.
Awesome stuff.
As for the ships, I love the dutch LCF lines:

But the Kirovs are also some impressive beasts, for their sheer size and all that weaponry.
You can check here in the list made by Srbin
Do not forget romanian 😉
Ah, I’ve found it.
December 2000 AFM.
Despite some detail differences, the overall shape looks pretty similar.
