The problem with it being a Gamma is the wing centre section. On the Gamma it ‘hung low’ relative to the fuselage, that’s why it needed the big fillet.

It presented a big horizontal ‘slab’ in 3/4 view. The other thing is – has anyone noticed the rear fuselage appears deeper than the forward part, almost like a ‘scoop’. And the vertical tail makes sense if you see it as raked forward, a la Yak.

As for the political hue of the civil service.. really? Elephant in the room time. Is it not possible that civil servants tend to have a more-than-averagely educated idea of just what the hell is going on? If sometimes they balk at what politicians (not really there for their brains, in this country where intellect is suspect) want to do, is it because they are lefties? Bit like the ‘remainers are lefties’ argument.

I only really know one real socialist well enough to call a friend. Last night we were talking about the EU. He voted leave as to an actual socialist the EU represents an international coalition of capitalists. He also believes the judiciary are too lax, educational standards are too low (which he reckons has caused a swing to the right in England) and we have lost some of our more worthwhile traditional values.

It is in your head, John. Socialist is a neutral word, describing a school of theoretical political thought, whatever emotions it raises in you personally. Just like Fascism. I am suggesting you are doing the branding, the ascription of ‘suspicion’, for reasons of your own experience and understanding, as others do with ‘Fascist’. Yes, some would see both as a badge of honour. Me, I regard all self-proclaimed ‘-ists’ with doubt.

The things I listed must at the very least confound you to the point of confusion, as you seem to want to associate them with a political viewpoint which you have pre-judged in value terms and found wanting. You have it all backwards. Whatever your leanings politically, a moment’s clarity would reveal to you that lenient judges, environmentalists, campaigning journalists, remainers and concerned parents are not necessarily any more socialist than members of the AA, my Auntie Jean or even you. If all of these people were Socialists we’d have a Labour Government now, n’est ce pas? This is neither mountain nor molehill, just a glaring fact you frustratingly keep skirting around.
