Dresden by Frederick Taylor.
Yes, some great pics on that site alright. But finding them can be tricky as there are a lot of mind-numbingly boring dross too though – it’s mostly record shots.
What exactly did the good people of airliners.net do to rattle your cage?
That SAA 747-400 display was one of the best I’ve ever seen in more then 30 years of attending airshows. The spiral climb at the end was pure magic, I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
First one, OBE (Military) 2nd type. BEM ribbon very similar.
Second one, 1939-1945 Star.
Third one, Africa Star. Clasp North Africa 1942-43, which is denoted by a silver rosette on the ribbon alone to RAF personnel.
What the hell is ‘desember’?
Anyone living in, or near the New Forest should know.
According to Francis K. Mason’s book ‘Battle Over Britain’, Plt. Off. W.M.L. Fiske, 601 Sqn., shot down one Ju.88 on 13.8.40, and he died of wounds on 17.8.40.
I suggest that you consult the New Oxford Dictionary.
What, you’re 84ish!
Well at least nobodies contradicted my discription of Dances With Wolves as being a fine and successful film, as well as being historically accurate. Suppose that’s the best that I can expect from you jokers!
Sorry, but I just get very annoyed when Hollywood plays fast and loose with our British history. Why can’t they at least make an attempt at getting it right? I’m sure that Braveheart and The Patriot could have been just as successful if the facts of history as shown on the screen had been accurate. Not a film with any British content I know, but Kevin Costner’s Dances With Wolves was very accurate historically I believe, and was a very fine and successful film.
Make the story a little groovier, or to use a pathetic current expression, sex it up, now that’s Mel’s style of film making. 🙁 Come to think about it, the term ‘sex it up’ could have been made for Mel Gibson.
You’ve got me really confused now. I assume the manufactuerer of black cars is Henry Ford. Who is the certain later President, and who was his father?
I think that you are being somewhat unkind about FDR, he was the greatest friend we had at that time, Winston Churchill thought so, and thats good enough for me. Remember that the American people very much did not want to get involved in another European war, and FDR had to walk a tightrope in helping us in the admittedly limited way that he was able to before Pearl Harbour.
I’ve just realized that the certain later President was John F. Kennedy, and his father was Joseph P. Kennedy, D’oh!!!!!
You’ve got your Roosevelt’s mixed up, Snapper old son. Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt was President from 1901 to 1909, and he died in 1919, so he could hardly have wanted to make peace with Hitler. I’m surpised that Wrenchbender didn’t pick you up on that. Seems that his knowledge of his own countries history is as poor his knowledge of ours, shame really.
You must be referring to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who gave us as much support as he could before the USA entered the war after Pearl Harbour. I’ve never heard it said that FDR wanted to make peace with Hitler, that’s totally untrue.
I did know that this was ‘General Discussion’ as it ‘appens!
